DISCUSSION -- April 2014 75+5 Word Writing Challenge

I hemmed and hawwed. Bit my nails. Evaluated each for stile, completeness, wit, emotional response,. I read each 5 times over waighing what I like and what I didnt, what I understood and what escaped me. I was positive it would be a nail-bitter when I threw my vote as both have what it takes.

For style and wit -Dusty
For completeness and emotional responce -Cat
For sly grins -Dusty
For phrases turned- Cat
Reread and read again, in the end for me it came down to vignette vs story as there was nothing between them otherwise. My dear Dusty I wish you all the best and congratulate you in your tie-brakery... but my vote had to go the other way.

*ehugs to you both, ties are hard on the nerves*
 
Two wonderful and entirely different stories. You both sat in my shortlist, but now I must figure out this shortest list.

Fantasy aromas came across in equal wafts from both I feel.
SteamPunky flavours saturated the tongue in all areas.
But by a micro-decibel, for me, Dusty's encounters theme sang that little bit louder in the storytelling choir! :)

Brilliant tales, both of you!

Well done Cat's Cradle and TDZ. I voted for TDZ the first time around and have done so again. The best of luck to both of you.

As for the tiebreaker, they're both wonderful stories, but since Cat's Cradle was on my shortlist the first time round, that's what I went with. Congratulations to both of you, though! :)

I sincerely appreciate all the votes and short listings I received. It is an honor to be among such illustrious company.

And congratulations to both Cat's Cradle and TDZ! Both excellent stories and both on my long list. It took some mulling but I ultimately went for Cat's Cradle.

(Now I come to think of it, we had an extra five words this month, but no extra vote in celebration...)

I can pick 'em - cat's cradle was a shortlist and TDZ was a finalist, which makes my tiebreak vote reasonably easy... TDZ as she was a cat's whisker ahead of cat's cradle.

Boneman, you must have missed it, earlier in this thread, where they said not to tell you that the other choice for the Challenge bonus was five votes. :p (I refer you to page 11.)

As for me, it was a tough call between the two, I had both finaliists in my Finalist List.

And yes, a big CONGRADULATIONS to both in the Tie-Breaker. Good luck to both.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but there's another whole day plus that eight hours to go. :p Not that I'm counting, of course. Luckily for me, actually, because that's also how long I have to think of something for the 300.
 
Oh, it's very close, Dusty!! :) It's very exciting, though a bit nerve-wracking! Thanks for the support from everyone, and for everyone! (Dusty is a fine person to vote-off against! :)) I might haunt the site a bit more than usual until the final verdict, so just ignore me! CC

ps--as a side note...I just self-edited this post and eliminated 4 unnecessary words, so the Challenge-influence lives one!

There was a massive crash, and a huge pile-up of parade floats that are currently on fire. Band members running around srceaming, clowns exploding, oh the humanity.

This is the second time I've jumped foward before the starting gun. Guess I'm a little caught up in the excitement. :D

Heck, you should have seen me last month, I couldn't even sleep. :rolleyes: I'm such a child at heart.
