DISCUSSION -- April 2014 75+5 Word Writing Challenge

Hey Starbeast! Love the new avatar...I should be able to place the picture, but I can't think of who it might be, mind if I ask? :)

Shame on you for not recognizing the Highly Esteemed Professor Fate from the greatest movie ever made.

Rush out, immediately, and rent The Great Race. Watch it three times.

My month for missing deadlines. I missed the photo challenge. I missed the deadline to post a highly hilarious 80 word bit for this challenge. (which I never actually found the time to try to write) I missed the deadline for the first round of voting. I shall try to post a tie-breaker vote, however. Tough choice.

I voted for TDZ purely because Dusty had fewer votes at the time. Both deserve the votes and I'm going to the theatre tonight.

jastius - a belated thank you to you for shortlisting! Glad you enjoyed it!

Congratulations to our two duellists!
Pistols at dawn you two; such fun!
No?

OK. I shortlisted Cat's Cradle before, and whilst Dusty's is a fine entry my vote goes to CC.

Yes, Anya, that's the spirit! A fine method for voting -- now pass it on! :D

Stormcrow, if I have to get up at dawn, you might as well just shoot me.

You might want to take that back if you take the lead!

It has become rather close, considering that when I voted it was 11 votes to 2.

Well, if I take the lead, of course I'll take it back! :D

When I looked last night as I was going to bed, it was 9-1, and the 1 was CC voting for me. :) Of course, I know all my peeps sleep late. No getting up at 5 a.m. for them, no sir.

I just did some digging springs, since I was not here either. I found a challenge Chrispy set for the 75 word challenge:

Theme: Nourishment
Genre: In the style of Rudyard Kipling

Is there a button which takes back a vote? ;)

This was actually my favourite month of them all. It really stretched me, but it also brought out my best entry , better even than the one I won with (in my opinion at least).

Congratulations to both winners!

Cat's Cradle entry touched an emotion in me, and so gets the vote. TDZ, your entry did make me chuckle.

1) I'm scurrrred of TDZ
2) I like a bit of ol raunch in my steampunk (matron)
3) TDZ gets my vote (on the proviso the genre is something I want).

So ... Yeah.

See, there's something to be said for longevity and a reputation! :D But at the rate it's going, I think we'll all get a chance to start being afraid of CC. Fear the newcomer! :)

I'd be scared of me in that pink taffeta, too, if I were you, Phyre.

Hey Starbeast! Love the new avatar...I should be able to place the picture, but I can't think of who it might be, mind if I ask? :)

Cat's, this is Professor Fate. Actor Jack Lemmon, from the 1965 film, The Great Race.

Shame on you for not recognizing the Highly Esteemed Professor Fate from the greatest movie ever made.

Rush out, immediately, and rent The Great Race. Watch it three times.

Heh heh. Don't blast him with a Ray Gun, Alex. I understand that not everyone has seen the movie. As for me, I watched it every year it came on tv since I was child. Then it came on cable, and when it became availible on DVD, I bought a copy.

It's nice to hear praise from other fans of this magnificent film. "Press the button, Alex!"

While you're all biting your nails, there's also a photo challenge (Long Exposures) suffering from the dreaded tie. It needs help...

Thanks for remindiing me Alchemist, sometimes I forget.

oh I forgot voting was on for the Photo Challenge. Well done Alc for reminding us.

Dusty, Cat, your both breathing right? Remember to breath...

To Phyrebrat--had I known this I would certainly have added some raunch to my own story! :)

To Alex--OMG, you were absolutely correct to call "Shame!" on me, sir! I used to love that movie...in my defense I haven't seen it in at least 15 years...to my shame, Lemmon is one of my all-time favorite actors. But well done on the call-out! :)

And to Starbeast--the avatar is even better than I had imagined! Wonderful!! :)

ps--to anyone who might have voted for me, thank you!!! :)
pps--(it's 4am here, and I cannot sleep, and am a bit sleep-weary, so please forgive all of the smileys!)

That gives a whole new meaning to the "trapped in a mine", "last moments on Earth":
dwarves, humans, all embracing for warmth and comfort, united finally
Wait, why am I pointing out the raunchy possibilities of my opponent? Oh, I know -- because it's too late for Phyrebrat to change his vote. :D

LOL Dusty. Lets not look at the fact that everyone trapped by the cave-in was a minor.

Groan, Hope, Groan! That was a pun worthy of Ursa!

What a pleasant surprise this came out to be! CC you have my vote, as I said earlier it came down to you and Remedy for me, both of your works were outstanding in my eyes so I am glad to give you my vote.
