Discussion thread -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE May 2014

yeah when that poll goes up I know I'm late for this voting (if I havent done so already)

oh me too!
I'm pretty nimble though, the ATM would have to get up pretty early to get the drop on me.

Heh heh. I heard something on the news a few weeks ago, where an ATM gave someone over $10,000 by mistake. The honest person reported it.

Thanks SB for the insipring words and making it onto the finals board.

You're gargantuanly welcome Paranoid Marvin. You write some outstanding rhymes.

And here are my lists, long, short and **vote**:

Karn Perpetual Man chrispenycate Luiglin Hex
Victoria hopewrites Starbeast David Evil Overlord

**alchemist**

Wow, thanks for the Short Listing Teresa. You made my night.

Congratulations, Alchemist!

Congratualations Alchemist, looking forward to your choice for next month.

Wow, that was a run from out of nowhere -- I was too busy at work to log in for most of the day, and just discovered a dark horse win!

Congratulations, alc, and commiserations, Victoria!

I thought it was springs that had the Time ATM. The one where you can withdraw extra time, as needed.
Oh man! Do you think she would let me borrow it?

oh that was good of them. I would just because I know the bank would know it was my card they had given the "extra" money to and would probably have just taken it from my account if I DIDNT say something.

Much thanks Teresa for that mention :)

and Congratulations Alc!

First, thank you Tywin for the mention! That was very cool, and made the day brighter!

Next, sympathies to Victoria--you wrote a wonderful story!

Finally, congratulations to Alc! A tremendous comeback, and a really 'classy' (classic-y?) story! Well done!!

I...

Um...

What....

Honestly, the last time I checked, Victoria was three votes ahead, hence what I said above in my post about the photo challenge (that could come across as pretty stupid now, so apologies for it -- I assumed Victoria was running away with it). This was a complete and utter surprise. I have to go see who voted for me now and then think of a challenge. Yikes!

Huge commiserations to Victoria. Yours was a great story and would have been a deserving winner.

Well done Alchemist and I was surprised too.
Next time Victoria, like Alchemist I thought you had it.

Well... on to next month now.

Thanks for the vote and listings :)

My internet has only just come back and I'm too late to vote. I was struggling to decide between Parson and Perp but the internet decided I didn't have to make the hard choice ;)

Back now and congrats Alc!

Welcome! When this is over, can you tell me what the significance of Fisg is? Because I know it has to mean something...
Actually -- and I blame my subconscious (because I didn't realise it when I first typed the word) -- it does, sort of....
You know how some people pronounce film as filəm? (Or how we add vowels where a foreign language doesn't: for example, Srbija becomes Serbia.) Given that the combination "sg" isn't an obvious diphthong, it calls for a vowel (and probably a schwa), giving Fisəg. This isn't a million miles from the word, fizzog. And 'fizzog' means 'face', an appropriate name for someone in PR.

Thank you for the mention Tywin! :)

CONGRATULATIONS ALC! :D

Congratulations, Alchemist! Well deserved!

And thank you very much Springs, Alchemist, Crystal Haven, and Dusty Z for the listings. It's cool to have made the lists of this month and last month's winners. :)

Good fortune on the next competition everyone!
