DISCUSSION -- July 2014 75-word Writing Challenge

Thanks for the mini-review Starbeast. I'm glad you thought it was "sweet."

Thanks for the review, Starbeast. :)

Is the month over already?

Thanks, as always to the wonderful SB for the review. It is, as always greatly appreciated. I know all the effort that goes into these review things, and both he and Victoria do a superb job. (Makes me wonder if I should ever come back and do them myself...)

Thanks to telford for the mention and an astounded round of obsequious gratitude to Flyerman11.

As I am sure has been noticed by many people there is, what looks like a horrendous error in my story. In a desperate bid to prove this wrong and a lot of research, I'll be able to explain just why there is no error when the challenge closes ;)

Honorables: Wordspinner, johnnyjet, Ashleyne. B. Watts, Michaelhall2007, Ben St.

Shortlist: Starbeast, Abernovo, Remedy, Flyerman11, Victoria Silverwold.

Voted for Victoria's story which sorta reminded me of Ramsey Campbell, though Abernovo was a close second.

The month is NOT over, Perp! Just the 75-writing month. Luckily for me, not the 300-writing month. :D

My usual (I can't say uncommonly) long shortlist and a shorter list with a *vote*:

Mouse -- My Daughter Wants a Unicorn
Bowler1 -- The Beach is Our Happy Place
Khayos -- Mothership
BigJ -- Sins of the Father
Cat's Cradle -- Devotion
*martin321 -- Do Matryoshkas Dream of Wooden Sheep?*
Glen -- Taboo
alchemist -- Leaving the Nest
DEO -- McDarkelf's is a Family Restaurant
Mr Orange -- The Smiths
farntfar -- The New Batch
reiver33 -- The Man-made Man
mosaix -- Life is What You Make It
Gawian -- The Cost of War
WordSpinner -- Making Momma
jastius -- She Talks to Angels

Hey guys,

I really enjoyed reading all of your stories, there were so many good stories to choose from.

Top Choices
-----------------------------------
The Beach is our Happy Place - Great story and very funny, nothing will stop the nanny bot from completing her useless tasks long after the owner has died! Haha! I really enjoyed it.

Devotion - This was great, I thought there would likely be a twist at the end, and there was. Very funny and Ironic!

The Smiths - This one was hilarious, I liked the fact that Mr. Smith knew he had strayed too close, but didn't feel the need to stop it from happening! His attitude was like 'Oops, oh well' *Shrugs*

The Man-Made Man - This story was very interesting, and the irony of being killed by this android because he wasn't 'doing it(evil) right' was great. Plus it was a nice touch that the android was offended that the creator (I assume it was his creator) didn't identify him properly. Offensive!

My Brother’s Keeper - I liked the final words from one brother to another (from anotha' motha') and that they remained true to each other to the end, despite the forces against them. Very moving, and well-written.

-------------------------

After much consideration I was down to just my top two

--------------------------

The Beach is our Happy Place

The Smiths

---------------------------

My vote went to;

The Beach is our Happy Place

Wow, two listings, how cool! Thank you so much, Dusty and WordSpinner! Tons of support from Colorado! :) Dusty, I hope your 300 worder is coming along well, and WordSpinner, I hope you have time to enter! CC

Yay... Thank you Wordspinner, much appreciated. TDZ too, for a close call.

4 Posts and one well placed vote, I like the cut of your jib Wordspinner. I look forward to seeing some of your work on here sometime.

WordSpinner - Firstly, nice to meet you. And second, you've tinkered together the right electronics for an outstanding sci-fi story. Nicely written.

Thanks for adding me to your 'shorter' list, although in a context outside of this forum that probably wouldn't be a good thing :p

The list (all on the first page for some reason...)

Mouse
springs
Bowler1
Victoria Silverwolf

And the votegetter is...
