Ratsy's 100 word challenge (by springs...)

Fall of a Nimph said:
The hippy-girl had a wildly distressed look on her face as she limped toward me with a paper bag clutched to her chest.
"Please! Save my children," she wailed as she tripped on something, tossed me the bag, and fell down dead.
Lady must have been nuts! The bag didn't have anything but raw chestnuts in it. But as it was her dieing request, I went around to various parks and got permission to plant the damn things.

Stupid conscious always getting me into scrapes.
the story I didn't submit (n0t to say I did or didn't submit something else, just a tease to help with those looking for a taste of my style.)

gah, so much going on atm, I managed a vote but didn't save my short list. I"ll be back later with it and some guesses I promise.

So, I enjoyed reading these a lot! My favourite was Board At Work, and that's the one I voted for, mostly because of the spectacularly wonderfully awful pun. I also liked Friday Afternoon In The Village for it's ambitious scope, and Hooded Lensman, mostly because of the authentic "powerbeams coruscating" line.

My vote goes to Promises – by Robert Mackay?

Shortlist:

Serial Killers Anonymous

By All Counts – Ursa?

Guesses:

Galactic Bus Ride to Grocery Planet 5 – Starbeast

Saving the Princess --Chrispenycat

Ah! So difficult to choose again.

I voted for To Beat One Another which I suspect is Ashleyne
Shortlist
Galactic Bus Ride to Grocery Planet 5, which I thought was Cat's, but as you say Ashleyne it could be SB.
and Serial Killers Anonymous which I can't decide on.

Other guesses
Promises ....Victoria
Brothers in Arms .... Kerry
C'est Marron ....Talysia
Friday afternoon in the Village .... Hope
Unicorn in Hiding .... Juliana.

My apologies if these are dreadful guesses, which won't surprise me a bit.

Congratulations, Robert Mackay! It's a wonderful story! And many thanks to springs for running such a fun event...great hosting, springs! Ratsy, well done, for almost winning your own challenge! :) And congrats to everyone who participated...all entries were great fun.

Wow, and the voting was difficult! I mentioned to farntfar that I just take for granted the thought that I have learned a few people's styles, but I was wrong on almost every single story I guessed on! It was very cool seeing who wrote what. We must do this again, some day! :)

Congratulations Robert!

Well done TDZ for fooling so many people - including me!

Thanks to Springs for her efforts.

I thought the whole thing a great success and agree we should repeat it.

It was so difficult, on a couple of occasions I nearly posted to thank people for votes etc!

I should put this in this thread too, I think. :)

Okay, so the entrants, and well done everyone for the great stories and for not letting on who everyone was. I'm pleased to see I kept up my usual form in the short version comps. oh, and a special mention to TDZ who, through astounding organisational skills :p, managed to do a perfect Ursa-like last minute entry, use a pun or two, and blindside everyone. :)

The Road - Victoria Silverwolf
Avenging Fairies - Ashleyne B Watts
That Old Chestnut - Kerry Buchanan
To beat one another - Cat's Cradle
Promises - Ratsy
Look Here - springs (well done, Juliana!)
A christmas tragedy - Karn
Serial killers anonymous - Juliana
Galactic Bus Ride to Grocery Planet 5 - Remedy
Good Luck Nut - A Fare Wells
The lost portal - Robert McKay (whooooo!)
Brothers in arms - Wordspinner
Lite bites - Reiver33
C'est Marron - Chrispenycate (which I think was the most correctly guessed one)
Friday night in the village - Alchemist
Unicorn in hiding - Hopewrites
Board at work - Mosaix (you'd have had my vote, btw)
Hooded Lensman - Farntfar
Saving the princess - Jastius
Take my wife - please - Johnnyjet
Roots - Darkchrome (welcome to the challenges!)
By all accounts - The Dusty Zebra.

Gosh. Thanks people! I'm all... wow.

I thought loads of the stories were really great, so I'm... honoured.

Congratulations Robert: a well deserved win.

Thank you to my one voter, Juliana (virtual cake bribe on its way!) and for those of you who guessed my story was either Springs or Victoria (both writers I admire).

This was a lot of fun - can we make it a regular event? Please?

Well done Robert!

Also thanks for your mention.

I'm feeling pretty chuffed myself.
2 votes. Thanks Reiver and JJ
and also to be mistaken for Kylara and Springs. Blimey. I must have done something right. :)

Do you wanna do it again? (The closing remark of what track and by whom, anyone?)

congratulations robert, a lovely story!

this was great fun!

uber thanks to those who guessed me to have written those amazing stories! (blushes at own efforts)
and somehow even anonymously i garnered a vote from karn.. after me misleading him ... he thought i did the unicorn one, (as if i could get hope's etherally serene magic aura that imbues her tales of wonder)
shakes head in puzzlement..(i think karn just likes dragons... he seriously thought that one had been written by kylara).
amazing story robert!

I must have done something right. :)

Congrats, farntfar! It was a terrific story.

Do you wanna do it again? (The closing remark of what track and by whom, anyone?)

Um...I'll guess The Star Spangled Banner, by AMERICA! :) Actually, no idea, but I would love to do another ratsy 100! I loved the whimsical nature of the theme...maybe we could continue with something similar? Maybe create an original nursery rhyme, something...or wait, would Robert get to choose, if we have another contest? :)

ps--your story was very cool too, jastius!

I think it'd be fun to do another but I'd give a break - next month is the 300 and there will be fewer entrants prepared to write three stories a month. How it's arranged probably comes down to who steps up to the plate to run the next one - that's what happens with SS.

Good job everyone! And a big congrats to Robert. Well done. I came so close! 4 votes...arg. Haha. I'll take it. And no one guessed it was me so that's good.

I thought someone might because I have had a few stories about a couple having forever together...or varients of that.

Thanks again Spring, you did an amazing job running this :)

Well done Robert!

Gosh, that was hard. I got 3 right (Hope, Springs and Chris), but the only two I was sure of were Springs' and Chris' entries.

Amused (and flattered) to see that a couple of people thought mine was Alc's. :)

Mosaix, thank you for the vote!

And Springs, thank you for doing this, you really went to a lot of trouble, and it was great. :)

Perhaps we could do it in the months when there wasn't a 300?

And, unless anyone else has an urgent need, I'd be prepared to do the necessary for the next one. I take it Robert would choose the theme etc?

Juliana, I still can't get it out of my head that Alc wrote that story! But I thought it was excellent - well done!
