DISCUSSION -- October 2014 75 Word Challenge

It's all the legs. And the hairy bodies. And the beady eyes. Ok, if it were just those things, I'd hate caterpillars too, which I don't. But I do hate centipedes. And I hate mosquitoes, too. But I've never seen a spider do a darned thing about mosquitoes.

Thank you, springs! :) Nice story, Karn!

I, btw, am terrified of spiders in the home, but in the garden or the woods, they don't bother me at all (unless they're crawling on me!).

I'm afraid we've had to remove an entry for being over 75 words. This might be a good time to remind everyone to be careful with things like hyphens and compound words. If you have any doubts, contact me or another staff member before you post. We really don't like removing entries.

That's what I get for being clever.

I used the names of spiders - surprisingly beautiful, btw - through mine and one I'd thought was one word is two (filmy dome if anyone's interested.) So, also check your internet reference sources....

I don't have a copy to pop up on my blog later so you'll have to all take my word for it that it was a work of genius and would assuredly have won*. :D

*given my 75 track record this may not be strictly true... ;)

I got many of your spiders springs... The use of huntsman gave away the Arachnids to me, surprisingly not the use of orb, which came second. I then researched all the ones I didn't know. Brilliant! Loads of interesting ones like the peacock and jewel! :)

Sorry you were removed :(

Thanks all! Tis okay - without the information about the spiders (which would have come after the voting) it made no sense in relation to the theme, so it wasn't a bad month to go out in!

The good news is the fab Harebrain has sent me a copy so I'll chuck it up at the end, and I'll have a copy because I quite liked it.

And I see Remedy and Juliana got the references which is nice!

I'm in. I used a different story to the one I wrote this morning.

I don't know. I feel like the original one went way over the top and should never see the light of day. Thanks for the nice comments.

I don't like singling stories out, but I loved the twist at the end of yours, Juliana.

I have posted mine. I wrote 3 but went with this one.

Oh, I'm sorry springs, what a shame! I go crazy counting mine, and I still worry every month that I might have gone over. I'm happy though you'll have the 300 worder to enter!
