Apologies to be off-grid for so long; I've not had wifi till today so was unable to post excerpts from my Mac. Will be getting them up later today after work.

So sorry for keeping you waiting - next time I run an SS I promise to make sure I have Internet outside of my mobile phone data plan :)

Apologies, everyone, for my recent absence from SS the 5th...I am going through a massive-massive spell of insomnia, and I just have not been able to read or concentrate for the last month (it started right before Christmas, and continues now...I'm averaging 2-3 hours of sleep a night throughout that entire period, and fear that soon I will enter the realm of those who become zombies through sleep deprivation). I haven't read the excerpts, but promise one day I will...and I will vote sometime after the names of the various writers are disclosed...I suspect my voting percentage will be very high, indeed. Sorry too to my story recipient...someday I hope to continue the story. :( I will send it along when/if I finish it. Be well, all, CC
 
Thank you, springs! I have ordered my copy of Abendau's Child, btw...hasn't arrived yet, but it is number 1 on my reading list as soon as I can get some sleep. :)
 
HELP NEEDED:

Poor @David Evil Overlord hasn't had a story because his author has had so much on. As you're all such a generous bunch, I was wondering if anyone could do his story and get it to me by Sunday? (I know I know, cracking the whip and all that...)

His request is:

The Quantum Mechanics Union goes on strike, and all sorts of different realities are interacting in ways they really shouldn't...Space Marines marching into Mordor, tricksy hobbitses steal the Millennium Falcon, that sort of thing...

Oh my, CC, I can only imagine how that must feel. I know how space cadetted I get after self inflicted lack of sleep, but not to have any choice about it must be so wearing. I do hope you get some respite soon :)

An update on DEO's story... I have one and possibly two more on the way...

Some of you may think I have orchestrated this to lengthen my custodianship of this SS5 :p :D
I'll post the excerpt of DEO's new story tomorrow as it will have given him time to read it by then (I hope)

And nothing. Did DEO get his long awaited story? Have the rest of us been shown it? No. Have we been passed each other's long versions, having been given the results of who wrote what for whom? Here's mine from Mouse, thank you very much, oh rodential one.

I got two stories for DEO and I sent them on to him and heard no further. I don't want to post them in case he hasn't read them yet (actually I've not seen much of him around so maybe he's off-grid at the mo).

So far it's not been within the purview of the SS admin to post up the full stories, but agreed between the writer/recipient. If there is call for that to be implemented I'm happy to do it, but I would suggest it may be an onerous task to contact everyone again for permission. Therefore in future SS I suggest participants raise any objections when they submit their requests or stories.

Laptop says internet does not exist. Then teases me by saying it's online, only to deny the existence of the internet once more, five seconds after I've logged into the Chrons.

Agnostic, antagonistic laptop. Meanwhile, the kindle is currently a True Believer in the existence of the Great God Google.

Someone should write this story.
