Discussion Thread - 100 Word Anonymous Writing Challenge Feb 2015

"Imagine My Surprise When" -- This carefully crafted poem is full of evocative images.

"Today Jeopardy! Tomorrow the World" -- With dazzling effect, the author raises profound questions of identity.

"Clouded Judgments in the Dark Skies of War" -- With grim realism, this dark satire shows us the horrors of war.

Thank you, Victoria, for the reviews that may or may not contain an entry that I possibly did or didn't forget to remember to submit last Sunday or this Friday... :D

One question (which might be silly as I'm kinda new here) why is this under the Workshop sub-forum rather than Challenges? Not saying it's wrong, just wondering.

I have to take a good thought on this one...and the Feb 75 worder. Im usually in so early on these things. Maybe I'll wait till the last day :coffee:

Hi Pwaa, this isn't one of the official challenges (the 75-word and the quarterly 300-word). It's more of a game, really, where once the challenge is over and voting begins we all try and guess who wtote each one. Also a fun chance to try out different writing styles in the name of misdirection... ;)

Once upon a time all writing exercises were in worksop - um, workshop - and the 'Challenges' section was created specifically for the seventy-five and three hundred word challenges.

Ah, thanks for the clarification guys, makes sense.

Ladymen and Genties!

Time is drawing near, so make sure you PM me with your entry if you have not done so yet. There are one thing we need to discuss quick!

1: Do you want me, like before, to put out a list of all the names that entered a story (including a false name) onto the discussion as soon as the Poll goes up?

LEt me know please, and I sure do hope you are all having fun thinking, reading and writing for this Challenge!

Yea, I think the list is quite important. The guessing would just be too hard without it ;) And new members would never get mentioned.

To be truly anonymous why don't we put the list of names up after voting and let the guessing begin then?

That has a certain logic, Pwaa.
The only problem would be that you would have a winning story and then have to wait possibly a week to know who wrote it.
But again, why not?

You may have to cut the posting period down to make it all fit in a month.

We used to not have a list and would just guess but the reality is, guessing isn't very fun when any of a few thousand people could have subbed the story.

Last time we established that we would show a list of entrants in random order and throw a name or two in to throw everyone off.

Knowing the list of entrants shouldn't affect the voting. We don't say who wrote the stories until after the voting is over.

As Ratsy said, knowing the entrants really doesn't affect the voting. You'd be surprised how hard it is to match the entries to the names!!! (I never get more than one or two right).

And I think that doing it in two stages (voting, then guessing) might be counter-productive; it will be more trouble for J.L. and also by dragging the process out people might lose interest... (Just my 2 cents).
