Discussion - May 2015 100-Word Anon Writing Challenge (#6)

All the last-minute ones are flooding in now. I only just realised that by putting midnight GMT as the end time, I was condemning myself to sitting up until 1 am because of British summertime. Duh! o_O

I might be a little tetchy tomorrow morning, since it's already long past my bedtime.

Well, that's the poll up. I hit create by accident about 10 minutes early - it's 3 hours past my bed-time and I'm probably not thinking straight. It took me three attempts to spell straight correctly just there...

If there are any late comers, I apologise.

Shortlist:

"Encapsulated Diffractions" -- For the elevated language.

"The View From Here" -- For making a fairy tale come to life.

"Eyes of Fate" -- Best fantasy story.

"Send Off" -- Best science fiction story.

"Aidan" -- For fine characterization.

"One Last Kiss" -- For its heartfelt emotion.

"The Shadows of Your Smile" -- Best horror story.

My vote goes to:

"Eyes of Fate"

Satisfaction Guaranteed - As Billy Crystal said, it's better to look good than to feel good. This Rube Goldberg machine will make you look marvelous.
The Princess and the Mirror - While it's nice to be a princess, it's not so good to have a haunted mirror laying around.
Prisonception- Madness can bring sweet relief from the horror of confinement.

I will come back and consider other guesses later. But offer the following shorlist, Runner up, Vote and guesses (NB I reserve my write to change guesses when the list of entrants is posted)

Translations- this was fun, and silly and clever. I suspect CC or Phyrebat, but will go with CC.
Satisfaction Guaranteed- this is such a witty idea, and it is SCI FI'y enough that I will guess Jo Zebedee
Mirror of the Soul- this was very wrong in all the right ways and had a touch of the dark lord's humour about it so I will guess, Luiglin
Reflective Life- creepy and atmospheric (and posted early), so I'm saying Ahleyne.
Brothers obverse- thought provoking. Victoria?
Time to Reflect and Eyes of Fate- I love the use of language in these two. I'm not sure who I think they are by, but wouldn't be at all dissapointed if people wanted to attribute them to me. They are not... but... maybe, who can say.

Woof!

Ok, I've read the stories, I've read them all, and here is my laughable attempt at guessing the authors for each one. My red herring was Cascade, which is clearly wrong, because Cas always enters the challenges. Sorry, Cas :)

For what it's worth, I reckon I've got 2 right, and will be well pleased if they are the ones I think they are. But we shall see!

I'm going to vote later, once I've read the stories again and I don't have to think about the puzzle element, which I think can detract form the enjoyment of just reading them. There are some belters in there, though.

This is going to take some brains and some luck ... I'm not renowned for having either :)
