DISCUSSION -- July 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

Great entries, but we need more! :) We had 51 stories by this time last month, and 41 as of today. Hopefully that mad rush at creation will take us well over the 50-story mark by midnight Thursday.

If not Cat let me know and I can go stun 'em with me RAY GUNS. A tough job, but someone's got to do it (I keep volunteering, but I never get asked! Go figure?).

Is it hot milk time already and have you put Norman out? Fine, let's see what we have now and what pearls or anecdotal wisdom I can add. What's tickled your... you do have a funny bone under there don't you? Ah... that's gone a bit green. Time to get a new one I think.

Witches get a rough deal as this tale shows. Always cast as rotten old evil hags. I know Minion, many of them are but hush, there's a small few that aren't and this sounds like one of those. Goo... goo... goo... damn nice word... well done I say.

Teresa Edgerton
I'm with you sister... eh? Oh yes... or brother. These authors are nothing but pains in the nether realms. Putting in fancy words and making us do things we'd never ever do. So I'm with you in telling them to stick their story lines and plot twists where the sun doesn't shine. I don't mean under the Minion's robes by the way.

Bob Senior
The poor boar. He'll be scared for the rest of his thankfully short life. I mean, do you know what affect that will have on the meat? It'll be all stringy and chewy from the ordeal.

It is an often misunderstood position leading from the back; an act of cowardice or an act of foolishness. Yet there is an art to standing at the back and looking like you know everything that is going on. It's all in the way you shout patriotically and the way you swish a good brandy around.

Quite late on the last day for submitting, and we have an adequate number, but:- Crystal Haven, Grimward, hope, jastius, Karn, marmalade, Sancho, Starbeast, StilLearning & The Judge, have not yet posted. I wonder how many…?

And thanks, Victoria,

Bloody knife in hand, a heavy heart, all those wonderful stories butchered for the necessity of culling back the numbers. Oh, sorry, went somewhere for a mo'. Back now. You all know you write great stories. Right? So I'll avoid the usual caveat. Honorable mentions (this just gets harder and harder): WillWallace. Victoria. Jo. Germinad. Ratsy. Douglas Mann (welcome). Cul. Mosiax. Alc. Tim James. HB. Dusty. And which story stuck with me and demanded, by its excellence, the gold? Go Softly,My Dear,Go Softly. Well done to DG Jones. And to everyone else, of course.

I think I counted 50 Stories, and so imposed on myself an arbitrary limit of 8 stories for my long list and promptly went over it.

Lots to like this month and after some hard culling I got down to this.

Laugh out loud funny in The Famed Golden City of Imilkha- Culwych, and Fooled Once...-Ihe.
Existential explorations in Lady's Choice- Mad Alice.
No Fairy Tail- Luiglin
references a classic story, whilst Deception Rejection-Bob Senior reminds us what folk tales were all about before they got disneyfied.
Sisters- Michael Coorlim reminds us that truth from a family member is not always a good thing. Whereas Go Softly, My Dear, Go Softly- DG Jones reveals the ocassional mercy in a lie.
I loved the sci-fi wars of Invasion day- Hex the meta fiction cleverness of A Confession- moonbat and the cyper punk manchurian candidate of The Robot's Answer- Jonnyjet.

In the end DG Jones got the vote, but on another day it could have been any of them. Well done all.

Alas, inspiration wasn't even a fleeting visitor this time. Thought about several different ideas, but rejected all of them.

Will be quite happy to read (now that submissions are over!) and vote, though. :D
