Discussion thread -- October 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

I got my mom on the line, and you were right, Jo, it was Saorise. Although I was completely wrong on the pronunciation, which is sear-sha, according to what my mom was told.

Howdy, howdy and elo, elo everybody. It's nice to be here this evening.

Starbeast (noun) -- An ironic event which is the result of failing to be aware of history. ("The famous dictum that those who fail to remember the past are doomed to repeat it can be applied to many a Starbeast experienced by the unwary.")

Thank you Lady Victoria Silverwolf for your review (which I always look forward to). Inspiration struck me the other day and an idea formed quickly. I'll go into far more detail when the voting is done.

StilLearning - Outra idea moi interesante, pode linguaxe realmente cambiar o xeito no que unha sociedade funciona? Ao eliminar palabras agresivas que iso promover a paz? E se isto acontecer, entón iso déixanos aberta a agresores. Claro que se funciona dun xeito ....

As Phyre has been 'begging' me to do his review in either Old English or Ewe (I nearly lowered myself to putting the word baa up a couple of times) I decided to go one better.

It's neither of the above, but.... Google translate will not translate it!

Has anyone taken a punt at translating the one I did for myself yet?

Has anyone taken a punt at translating the one I did for myself yet?

I took at look at Google Translate's rendering of this from the Russian, and here is my very free rewording of it:

There once was a fellow named Tim
Who was actually really quite dim
Being known as a hood
Was never much good
But at least it was better than him

(Of course, the self-deprecating humor found here has nothing to do with reality.)

Ooh I love it. Now let me think and get back to you. At first I thought it was DNA but that's more CTAG isn't it ... Thanks T, whatever it says, I'm delighted and shall decipher and report back :D

pH

Good luck with that. :D

By coincidence I nearly rewatched 2001 : A Space Odyssey last night on netflix, and today Victoria references the film in her review of my entry. Very lofty company, indeed:)

Tim, you used the only language I could possibly translate without a computer thanks to 4 years of Latin in high school.
Thanks to both for the outstanding efforts that you are putting into the reviews.

As originally written:

There once was a lad called Tim,
Who was really quite, quite dim,
He might be a twerp,
But was once known as Perp,
Someone considerably better than him!

Howdy Beast. Good to see you again!

How's tricks?

@DG Jones I'm ok. Working hard, helping others and maintaining Earth orbit. Thanks for the welcoming.

@Tim James Constant Moving Man, speak in many tongues. Red Moon crossing sky, reminded me, Wichahpi Taku, to return. I thank you Constant Moving Man, for good words, you say to me. And may the Great Spirit, bring peace, to all people, of many lands.

Hi Cats. I'm ok. Nice to see you again too. Thanks for the complement. I'll go into detail later about what I wrote.
