Discussion thread -- January 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Big thanks for all the lovely mentions and even lovelier votes, which I think I have managed to "like" (and certainly have liked!) along the way, with the exception of mosaix's stealth vote which is hard to "like" but still quite likeable. :D

Less than twenty-four hours before voting ends and:- Ashleyne. B. Oh, yes, my short list was :- Bob Senior, Jo Zebedee, Ken Zulu, mosaix, StilLearning and The Judge , voting for Her Honour. And many thanks to:- Robert Mackay and Droflet for the mentions, and especially Glen for the vote.

I'm on the near naughty list, I've always wanted to be on that... only I voted yesterday morning :D

Is that a tie I smell on the wind. With VB and Littlestar neck and neck it could be another one of those months.

Wow, what a tough month! Usually on first read through I have a pretty good idea of who I'm voting for, but this month was hard. So many great entries, and in the end just to make a short list I had to be a little brutal.

Vote: Victoria Silverwolf
Short list: Cul, Hare Brain and The Judge (with HB also getting the 'best title' award)
Long list: Hex, Jo Z, Ashleyne, DG Jones, Johnnyjet, Robert Mackey and TDZ
Special mention goes to Tim for drafting all those Chronners into his entry. Very good. :D

I... Just couldn't come up with anything this month! And the more I read everyone else, the worse it got. But hopefully I'll be back in February. :)

I'm finally reading through the stories and almost fell over when I was referenced in Perp's story! I just hit the big time (y)

I will make it back to do a short list and vote

bit pushed for time so no shortlist, but a special mention for @TheDustyZebra for this

“Your crew cut out already. You think I got five mullets in me, or six? Gotta ask yourself – ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, punk?”

but i voted for @LittleStar. of course i did. an immense story of pain, suffering and loss in 75 words. (y)

Another mention?! Much obliged, @crystal haven!

As ever being pernickety, there were some stories I didn't think quite met the genre, and some that to me didn't fit the theme, either. Pernicketiness aside, there was a fine crop (crop -- geddit?) of hair-raising stories, and my short-back-and-sides list is as follows:

Culhwch -- The Witch of Stone Man Ridge
johnnyjet -- The Outlaw Hairdresser
mosaix -- Fall Out At The OK Corral
Phyrebrat -- Cultural Appropriation
Robert Mackay -- Temple, Arizona
TDZ -- OK, Sally On
Venusian Broon -- Reminiscing about the slight...
willwallace -- Tonic

Unusually for me, most of these were humorous (pony-)tales, perhaps because both theme and genre are so daft, the serious ones seemed a hair out of place. And after a good bit of cogitation, my vote goes to Robert as I loved his last line.

As for mine, I hadn't read the other entries before posting, so I'm mortified to see I pinched Kerry's title and Tim's punchline for mine. I'm glad some of you have forgiven the theft, and curly quiffs of thanks for the listings/mentions Grim, Parson, DGJ, Phyrebrat, Hex, TDZ, Juliana, and crystal, and a whole bouffant beehive toupee of thanks for the votes VB (glad I saw off that mosaix -- about time he got his comeuppance), Robert and Chris.

Thank you for the listing Johnny jet! Truly appreciate it.
Thank you for the reviews star beast and Victoria!
Really appreciate it as I have Ben trying to get rid of this flu since before Christmas. Have felt a bit guilty at being o nonparticipating.
