Discussion Thread -- February 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

We should, perhaps, add a reminder here, given that the genre lends itself to the gruesome, that this is a family-friendly site. Please do feel free to inquire of the mods if you think you might be crossing a line. :)

My wife has pointed out to me that I should go on record as saying: I was raised a methodist, am currently an agnostic, and have friends of all different religions. So my story is fiction, not what I believe, and not meant to be a swing at anyone's faith. If the mods feel it might cause any offence, please remove it with my blessing.

But the brief was for horror....

No offense taken from this Christian. First of all, everyone to their own beliefs. Secondly, what I love about the speculative fiction genre in all its varied forms is the openness to all ideas. Finally, yes, it is fiction, and I too write fiction that does not necessarily reflect my beliefs.

By the way, it is pretty horrific! Nice job.

StilLearning --- No offense taken by this Parson. But for someone like me that would be the ultimate horror. (Shudder!)

D.G. Jones --- Clever use of the forum word processor. Some years ago Mouse won easily in part because her story took the shape of a mouse.

Thank you guys, for the reassurance and the compliments. Oddly, even though I don't consider myself of any particular religion, I found writing that quite difficult - which was what made me put that one up rather than any of my other ideas.....

Cat's Cradle -- The melancholy tale of love lost is sure to bring tears to the reader's eyes.

Droflet -- The author creates an ever-increasing sense of suspense in this tense thriller.

StilLearning -- The vast, cosmic scale of this philosophical fantasy stretches the imagination.

What a rush to discover what this month's theme and genre would be! I'm not even a fan of horror, but I've never tried it. This is a superior challenge that got me pumped up. Expect my story soon!

Ihe -- The author captures the claustrophobic feeling of a nightmare in this creepy tale.

Clockworkbot -- By combining elements of the supernatural with a suggestion of the Old West, this story creates it own atmosphere.

Shyrka -- With a delicate touch, the author creates the perfect setting for an unexpected menace.

Wow, 'delicate touch' is not something I'm often accused of possessing. I tend to be more the 'blunder into things whilst knocking stuff over' type. Much obliged, Victoria.

Reviews by Parson now as well, good lad. I'm in a general dithering mood which is why I've not put my effort up yet. I'm off down the shooting range for a bit to blow off my frustrations by blowing stuff up.

Reviews? ..... What reviews?

Thanks Victoria. Like everyone, I always look forward to your wonderful reviews. (y)
