Discussion Thread -- April 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

I'm in. I went for clever, posted, and then saw Venusian Broon's highly clever post. Sigh!

Thank you Victoria Silverwolf for thoughtfully reviewing my rookie post.

It seems that you are kind of the den mother here. Is that accurate, or have I spoken to soon?

Parson -- A creative variation on a classic theme of science fiction.

Thank you. I very much appreciate the kind words.

But Classic Theme? I don't believe I've ever run across a set up like the one I used. I must be missing something.

Oh... That was a curt response, but I suppose anymore info would potentially be a rules violation.

Indeed. Perhaps you saw my earlier version where it probably was a rules violation, or the edited version where I called that out. The final version of the post came when I realised through the fog of my fatigue that if I could edit to call something out, I could edit to remove that thing. It reminded me of one of my favourite scenes from Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance.

Anyway, you have fun here.

Side question - is it kosher to post up your competition entry elsewhere (i.e. on a blog) and talk about the feedback you got after the vote is done?

Thanks for the review Shyrka, to anyone who noticed my absence i've been buried in work!

Espionage and the Art of the Blown Cover, @Robert Mackay – All the technology in the world cannot hide this hapless spy’s true nature in this melancholy tale.

tattarrattat, @Venusian Broon – A group of pilgrims wonder what lies behind a sacred portal whilst what lies behind wonders about them. Turns your world upside down. Literally.

Population Explosion on the Armstrong, @Parson – A colonist laments the ever-increasing overcrowding problem that plagues her generation ship.

No Angel Tonight, @reiver33 – The clientele of a nightclub remain blissfully unaware of a killer in their midst.

Homesick, @Phyrebrat – A mysterious disease claims another victim while its previous victims try to claim more...

The Void Knocks, @SilentRoamer – What lies beyond the airlock? Nothing survives in the void, does it?

Fulfilment, @J5V – A chilling vision of a future world where any deviation from the norm leads to expulsion from society.
