Discussion thread -- August 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

*grr face*
So. Those 179 words I said I had

Gone.

File didn't save.

Is almost OK though, as I was trying to reenvision the scene I realized the trope I was attempting to discomfit with my benevolent MC was a video game trope not a fantasy one.

Realization followed by fresh inspiration. Not written a word of it yet though, waiting till I'm home and can paper-pen it.
*fingers crossed*

This "New Weird" stuff has led to some amazing stories so far, can't wait to see what else comes in, also looking forwards to explaining mine ;-)

Definitely. I like when authors speak about their inspirations and origins for stories they submitted.

Starbeast -- An era of love is brought from above.

Aww, you're so sweet. Thank you, Lady Silverwolf.

Good luck Hope. I'm looking forward to your entry.

Mercy From the Watchers in Space, @Starbeast – Humanity’s saviour turns out to be outlandish soft toy-wielding fungoid beings from beyond the stars. None of the prophets saw that coming!

The Pit and the pent up son… @Aun Doorback – This entry tells the tale of an errant child, imprisoned by their father for reasons unknown. References to beer, beards and biblical perfume adds intrigue to the story and hints that something greater is at work...

World-Saving Commodities, @Ihe – Classic fantasy character tropes are shown here as ‘on demand’ saviours, kept as pets by the creatures they would usually call ‘enemy’. Strangely, these pet heroes don’t seem to mind their captivity.

Ohm, @Wruter – After its startling opening line, this twisted tale of captive gods spirals further into darkness as a father urges his son to spread their god’s love through physical cruelty. Divinely disturbing.

Heh heh. Thank you Shyrka, for your wonderful review.

I merely postponed the "end of the world". I figured humankind could take a break from all the suffering.

Glen, I loved the story. I've a real soft spot for self-sacrifice for the good of others.

Howdy folks,

Well, I'll save everyone the expense of traveling to Snoozeville by apologizing for being absent. Real life sucks at the moment and this might have been the first time I was inspired to write something for this challenge. Did it fit the parameters? I can't say it did only I hope it comes close.

The Ultimate Gift, @WinterLight – Fighting some unknown foe, the protagonist of this epic tale prepares to make the ultimate sacrifice.

An old secret… @StilLearning – After many years of happy marriage, a wife discovers that there is more to her husband than she ever knew. We all keep secrets but she can never have expected this.

@Glen – Shunned by the world around him, this selfless-soul gives of himself so that others might rise above their petty hatreds, no matter what the cost.

@Calliopenjo – The enigmatic story of an entity that travels the myriad realities to deliver light and warmth to those in need.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, but I really liked the monthly writing challenges so I hope you don't mind me giving it a go.

You absolutely go for it ET. See what I did there. And welcome to Chrons.
