Discussion Thread -- September 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Here is my shortlist. (* = second place, bold = vote)

It was a toss up between TJ's delightful Macbeth which I felt as if it was personally written for me, and Coast, but there was something really differently 'human' about Coast's that just hooked me.

Coast *
Johnnyjet*
Chrispy
Perp
Moonbat
TDZ*
TJ*

In a rush as I forgot what day it was, and need to finish something tonight, so no time for a proper short list and usual gubbins.

My vote goes to TDZ, with reiver and Cul in joint second place.

Strutting and fretting time-loop thanks for the mentions and shortlistings Droflet, Justin, johnnyjet, TDZ, Chris p and Phyrebrat (thanks for the lovely words!)! Much appreciated!

Just a short group for me this month, I'm pressed for time with the poll deadline looming

Honourable mention to Coast.

Extremely close second place to Reiver.

And my vote went to johnnyjet. Great story, character, and has good heart and power which is what I look for most in any fiction(y)

So many good stories this month. Time is running out for voting, though, so here we go (but first, loved the choices this month, StilLearning):

Shortlist:
Ashleyne, Cathbad, mosaix, Starbeast, Tanja Bisgaard, Coast, Luiglin, Moonbat

Finalists: Heijan Xavier, Justin Swanton, TDZ, Mad Alice.

Vote: hold on, let me go read these four again...
....oh, I could happily have voted for any of these, but at this moment (and for several moments earlier in the week - really the deciding factor), it is Justin. This seemed very fresh to me. Well done!

Thank you to Drof, Shyrka, and Vaz for the wonderful listings!

And, of course, I am very excited that the 300 worder is just days away. Best of luck to all in the voting, CC

Thanks to anyone who mentioned, reviewed or commented on my story.

My shortlist:

Wruter's The Phantom of the Space Opera

Coast's Broadcast

Justin Swanton's School Play

Moonbat's Stage Fright

My vote goes to Bowler1's Stage Fright – Season Three

At this stage in the Challenge -- 28 minutes from declaring a winner (give or take the inconvenience of a tiebreaker poll) -- it's time I acknowledged Crispy's prompting and presented the judgement of the Ursa jury. Well, here it is:

Honourable Mentions:
  • Ladies And Gentlemen... by reiver33
  • Stage Fright by Mr Orange
  • Stage Fright by Moonbat
  • Life’s but a Walking Shadow, or A Tale Told by an Idiot by The Judge
Runners Up:
  • Lucio Argento presenta: ORRORE DEI PAGLIACCI by Starbeast
  • Victoria’s Secret Identity by David Evil Overlord
  • Our Doubts are Traitors by TheDustyZebra
Winner:
  • Broadcast by coast

(In the above, each category is ordered by time of posting.)

Thanks, Vaz. In such a huge field, I'm honored to be mentioned, at all.

And, yes, Chrispy, I do feel bad for not voting. I had a last chance to enjoy beautiful, warm Fall days upon the lake. I've been off the grid for days. Winter is coming. (The day after tomorrow, according to the forecasts.) That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Apologies.
