Discussion Thread -- JANUARY 2017 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

@Mr Orange .... Brings us to a time like many another when an issue reaches its resolution through a failure to communicate.

@Ursa major
.... Brings us to a time when the resolution of an alien fleet is too small to be resolved as they flee from the giant human ships.

@Wruter .... Brings us a poetic resolution of a promise that was broken, but the dream remained.

@DG Jones .... Brings to a time when the resolution of a Chrome AI threat is about to be foiled

@TheDustyZebra .... Brings us to the resolution of threat identification. Now if they would only pick up after themselves.

@ratsy .... Brings us to a fatal resolution to end the abuse and start anew.

@Judderman
.... Brings us to the resolution each husband has to make. Does he dare ask his wife again what she said?

Okay, "you lot," as The Judge would say. What is it with you that everyone waits until the final hours of a month long challenge?! I've done about 1/4 of the reviews in the last 24 hours. If we could just space them correctly we could get 46 of them in, with only 2 a day.

I'm not the first to vote, but it looks like I'll be the first to create a list. First, let's say that this was very hard. I'm going to blame @The Judge for this. Her and her "open" genre. :p One of the ways I'm able to reduce my short list is by eliminating those which I don't feel fit the genre. But it did make for a lot of good stories. :rolleyes: So I guess she's forgiven. :D Of course the other explanation is that in doing these reviews I was forced to try to understand every story, and so I was able to see the good in every one. :rolleyes:

Short list: (And I could have put almost everyone here.)
@Ignited Moth .... "The Final Ingredient"
@A. Fare Wells .... "The New Ruins"
@Droflet .... "Turnaround"
@Cat's Cradle .... "Re: Solutions"
@LittleStar .... "The Promise"
@Ihe .... "Re-Solutions"
@chrispenycate .... "Sufficient Resolution"
@Abernovo .... "Our Last Flipping Hope"
@The Judge .... "Devil's Child"

I Voted for:

@Victoria Silverwolf .... "Excerpts from the Captain's Personal Log" .... A very well imagined tale of intriguing alternate history.

Great job, guys! It was tough picking just one story to vote for. There were so many good stories and it was pretty interesting to see all the different directions everyone went with their short tales regarding the assigned theme. :) Good luck, everyone!

I'm not one normally for verse, either reading or writing, but I did enjoy the rythm and tone of @Wruter entry. So that's where my dot of the radio button went.

I'll try one of these list thingies. It was really hard to choose a favourite, it was very close.

Shortlist:
@Victoria Silverwolf Excerpts from the Captain's Personal Log
@Bowler1 I am THE only cHiLd - Winner of the inaugural Stable Award for Best Use of Formatting (and colour)
@Droflet Turnaround (... bright eyes)
@Abernovo Our Last Flipping Hope
@Culhwch New Year's Resolutions - Winner of the inaugural Stable Award for Most Chuckles (this award had 3 or 4 other strong contenders as well, but let's not end up with recursive shortlists)
@Moonbat HRHQEII - Winner of the inaugural Stable Award for Most Terrifyingly Likely to Occur
@The Judge Devil Child

My vote:
@Coast Best Laid Plans

Well the open genre and a few different interpretations for Resolution made it a tricky month to pick favourites. (For me, anyway)

Victoria Silverwolf, Phyrebrat, Ihe, The Judge, DG Jones, Ratsy were all in the running,

and Chrispenycate gets the vote.

While I'm grateful for the vote from @Luiglin I think my entry should be withdrawn from consideration as I belatedly realised it contains no speculative element, which I believe is against the rules. Sorry.

Thank you kindly to Parson and Cathbad for the listings, and Peter V for the wonderful vote! :)

Thanks for the favorite, Ihe. I haven't had a chance to do a short list yet, but I did vote for @CorySwanson.
