Discussion Thread -- JANUARY 2017 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Lady Silverwolf was my first too.

You always remember your first...

I'm afraid I don't. And unfortunately, the early polls have been lost to the ravages of time and changing webhosts, so I can never go back and see. Well, maybe if I mentioned it in the discussion threads, but that's a lot more time-consuming.

Great stories for a new year. Maybe the open genre helped to unleash everyone's creativity?

My favourites and vote:
  • Victoria Silverwolf - twisted history
  • Dave Barsby - incorrect insurrection
  • reiver33 - tragic nostalgia
  • Heijan Xavier - alternative reality
  • Ihe - causal proposal
  • chrispenycate - farness darkness
  • Parson - galactic tactics
  • Shyrka - mystery history
  • Abernovo - dream team
  • The Judge - sibling rivalry
  • Mr Orange - communications breakdown
  • Ursa Major - 'close encounter’
  • Wruter - honest promise

Thanks for the mention @Glen, much appreciated.

I've been a bit out-of-the-loop this month so I haven't got a shortlist of my own but I did drop a stealth vote on @Bowler1's story earlier. It was just too disturbing not to.

I really enjoyed the stories this month. TJ's choices allowed for some really nice ideas to be developed.
As always, culling is so hard; and I have a ridiculously long list ... and I'm leaving off stories I enjoyed just to keep the list's size down. So:

Shortlist:
Ignited Moth, farntfar, Glen, Robert Mackay, Heijan Xavier, Stable, Coast, mosaix, Culhwch, TJ, wruter, ratsy

Finalists:
Victoria, HazelRah, DG Jones, TDZ

Vote:
Victoria's alternate-world tale. I really dug this.

Good luck in the voting, all! CC

Thank you and much appreciated. I shocked myself this month and those of you that know me well (anyone who has been threatened with violence and sleek hand held weapons will know me all too well), know that I'm no stranger to extreme methods. But even for me, this was extreme - I have no idea where the idea came from. I still liked it. Mrs Bowler hates it. A marmite post, love or hate it and I suspect hate it for most. But thanks Shyrka and I promise not to be so disturbing next month (says Bowler1 all innocent like!).

Okay folks, here we go again. All terrific entries.
Very honorable mentions (any of these could have gotten my vote): Ashley, I Moth, Beasty, Sinister, Luiglin, Cory, Ph, Glen, HX, Azza, Ihe, Juelz, Parson, Coast, Mosaix, Cul, Her Honor, Mr O, Ursa, DG and Ratsy. Yeah, I know there's a lot.
For a truly clever resolution, and because I'm a dog person, Dusty gets the gold.
Well done everyone.

Thank you kindly for the mention! I'll have to find some time to re-read the entries, make my list and vote

Another mention! Thank you, @Glen.

I shall vote shortly.

Wow! I'm hugely impressed by all of these stories - it was worth joining the forum just to read them. To evoke emotion in such a short piece - you've all made it look so easy.

My absolute favourites were (in order posted): Victoria Silverwolf, Ashleyne. B. Watts, reiver33, Bowler1, Cat's Cradle, Erik8, Glen, Robert Mackay, mosaix, Culhwch, Mr Orange, ratsy.

My vote goes to the one I would have liked to have written most, which made the choice a little bit easier!

Woohoo, I got a few mentions this month!

I loved a lot of these so it was a hard month to choose. Maybe it was the open genre, but I thought it was one of the best we've had in a while

shortlist

Bowler1
Fartnar
Littlestar
Phyrebrat (fishing, a lake, and a brother...love it bud)
Robert Mackay
Coast
Culhwch
Wruter
TheDustyZebra

In the end i went for Littlestar, and I now see that puts a three way tie! What have I done??

Don't worry, I may be breaking the three way tie with my vote...

Rather a long list of mentions this time :giggle: Good month.

Shortlist

TJ
Judderman
TDZ
Droflet
Ihe
CC
Cory Swanson
Glen
Wruter

Finalists

Starbeast
Culhwch
Riever33

But my vote went to Littlestar also.
