Discussion Thread -- JANUARY 2017 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

This is the virtual (some would say imaginary) assistant of Abernovo. They are not able to come to the keyboard, due to being unconscious with shock. Three mentions and a vote were all too much.

I did hear a mumble of, "Thank you, @Parson, @Stable, and @Ihe, and a huge thanks for the v-vote from @Cathbad. Wow!"

This was really hard this time (to be honest it was last time)

Honourable mentions:
Droflet - I like to see the tables turned
Robert Mackay - for the optimism regarding Arsenal. Something I have long managed to keep well stifled
Glen - great conversation and amusing literal interpretation
Mosaix - for sharing the last thoughts of his protagonist

Very honourable mention:
TheDustyZebra - I simply loved the way a happy ending was reached. If only all such decisions could be decided on a dogs instincts. It really was a toss of a coin between this and my vote:

Cats Cradle - I liked the twist and I have a thing for portals :D

Okay folks, here we go again. All terrific entries.
Very honorable mentions (any of these could have gotten my vote): Ashley, I Moth, Beasty, Sinister, Luiglin, Cory, Ph, Glen, HX, Azza, Ihe, Juelz, Parson, Coast, Mosaix, Cul, Her Honor, Mr O, Ursa, DG and Ratsy. Yeah, I know there's a lot.
For a truly clever resolution, and because I'm a dog person, Dusty gets the gold.
Well done everyone.

Opps, almost forgot my manners.
Many thanks to Stable, Hugh and Peter for the mentions. And big thanks to Cathbad for the finalist slot. On a month like this I'll take mentions any day of the week. Yay.

Thanks for the honmen! :)

My picks. I generally tend to choose pieces which I feel can stand outside the context of the challenge besides being well-written or interesting from a craft perspective (IMNSHO of course).

This one is a day maker!

@Parson your piece was a favorite of mine because the genre was clear, it had a classic story structure, and it packed in enough character and world-building detail to suggest a much bigger story, something which always impresses me at this length (and which I don't have the knack for).

@Wruter ... I just might frame that statement about my story! That was high praise indeed. However, I wouldn't be so quick to say what you couldn't do. One never knows what talent might be yet to be unloosed.

The Judge -- This chilling tale of the seeming supernatural is just ambiguous enough to make the reader wonder.

Mr Orange -- This dark comedy of errors points out the hazards of poor communication.

Ursa major -- This comic space opera tellingly portrays the relativity of one's perspective.

Wruter -- Like another classic poem, this wistful, song-like verse ponders the road not taken.

DG Jones -- The unpredictable nature of the mechanical characters in this imaginative story emphasizes their similarity to their creators.

TheDustyZebra -- The way in which our fellow animals may be wiser than we think is depicted in this thoughtful fable.

ratsy -- This moving tragedy deals powerfully with a dilemma where all possible decisions are painful.

Judderman -- This insightful domestic drama shows the reader how small things can lead to large conflicts.
