The Belgariad trivia

I have never been sure if it is the same Tavern that Garion, Silk and Belgarath meet Drosta in during their journey to Cthol Mishrak, as the tavern wasn't named in the Belgariad.
If not the same Tavern, it is very similar, and of the same very low standard. Drosta is only welcome in a few places in Yar Nadrak, as he isn't well liked, so perhaps he goes to the same low dives (that will accept anyone).

So, going with the Melcenian theme - When Torak Cracked the World some of the Melcenian islands were flooded (or possibly sank). What did the Melcenian government do in response to that crisis?

Did The Ace mean that the government of Melcena formed a committee.

After a period of rebuilding, it became clear that the shrunken homeland could no longer support the population. Hence the bureaucracy of the government of Melcene formed a committee, that after 10 years concluded that the Melcene Empire needed more land. They then turned to the 5 primitive neighbouring kingdoms (Gandahar, Darshiva, Celanta, Peldane and Rengel) on the continent (the populations of which were of Dalish extraction, and spoke a similar language to that of Melcena), and quickly absorbed them into the Empire. Only Gandahar (with their elephants) caused any trouble. The other kingdoms saw the futility of trying to resist the technically superior Melcenes, and peacefully joined the Empire. The Melcenes worked through the established royal houses of the subject kingdoms, and the various departments of the bureaucracy quickly dived into those nations, in search of genius, recruiting individuals with talent, so the nations quickly became integrated into the empire proper, as they were absorbed directly into the mainstream life of the empire.
