Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi

Yeah - I would like to see the film at cinema (not least to avoid months of dodging spoilers) - but I'd like to come to this one with few expectations. A full-length trailer is going to create ... expectations.

I'm looking forward to it - if, for no other reason than Episode VII was seriously under my expectations, so it can't be any worse...? The one thing that bothers me now, about the new series, is how arrogant Rey has become, in such a short time. Perhaps not arrogant, but very smug. I blame Rogue One, because Felicity Jones was so good in that, and I wish she was playing Rey. The Empire Strikes Back was always my favourite of the original trilogy, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised!

Yoda said that Luke was too old to be trained as a Jedi. Rey must be older. The arrogance comes with age, and knowing how good she is. That at least, is true to life, but I'm not sure where that leaves the story.

As usual, I'll have to wait an extra six weeks until the film comes to my cinema. The first two weeks are easy, as everyone in the world refrains from spoilers. The middle two weeks are fairly easy if I spent the entire time pleading to all and sundry not to post any spoilers anywhere anytime. The final two weeks are difficult, but it's not impossible.

Where the hell on Earth are you?

I know someone who volunteers to run a tiny cinema in Denmark (oldest continuously running cinema in the world - Guinness Book of Records) and they show films on the day released. It is all digital now. It comes in the mail (one of the reasons why these films end up on the internet so quickly, I would guess is other untrustworthy and unscrupulous cinema employees.)

I'm north of Stornoway, in the Outer Hebrides.

You are going to find it very hard to get hold of the next Christmas, must-have, all sold out, soft, cuddly toys then. Porgs are hitting a high street near everyone else right now, entirely based upon the scene of him roaring with Chewie.

Have they done an official Star Wars punching bag yet? Surely someone's thought to put the picture of a Stormtrooper on it, and maybe some helpful directions in big letters like, "Punch it, Chewie"?
Someone's got to have done it by now, right?:D

And this appears to be the film's poster:

Don't forget Luke as we knew him before was when he was a lot younger and growing up on a mostly hostile world then going into a very hostile and very sudden (to him) warzone. It's not abnormal to think that as he's grown older he's grown more cautious. Indeed its something you oft see mirrored in real life; many people get more fearful and less aggressive as they get older. Also don't forget he's also been living in isolation for a lot of years after a pretty major disaster that has almost restarted the Sith that he fought so hard to defeat. It's no surprise that as the only living Jedi he's likely suffering a huge loss of self confidence
