Discussion thread -- June 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

@ratsy .... shows us that the future will be just like the past where Murphy's concerned. Even in the future there will be someone who will not see the big picture, because the small picture benefits them "Every. Single. Time."

@Mr Orange .... bends expectations when Murphy turns out to be a trade commodity subject to "The Murphys Law of Demand and Supply."

Well, I'm in, though later than I've ever posted in a Challenge. As usual I didn't have a scooby-doo about what to write until very late afternoon, but not as usual I didn't have the luxury of several hours tinkering with the idea before having to post as we were out all evening** so I hastily scribbled something in between getting dinner, eating it and getting changed, then had to delete 30+ words when we got back in, make further edits and generally try and made mud shine, not to mention counting it a couple of dozen times as words kept sneaking in when my back was turned. Phew.

And just to make clear: no animals were harmed in the production of this story.

** seeing a jazzy version of Twelfth Night -- Orsino was dreadful and Olivia was worse which was pretty disappointing, but on the good side Malvolio was marvellous in both the funny and tragic elements, acting the cross-gartered stockings off everyone, Antonio was very good, and Sir Andrew was just right as a long streak of pump water. And I'm assured the music was excellent.

Everyone please remember that you have three votes this month, and they must be used at the same time!

Ah, the last reviews of June. Here they come and many of the usual suspects!

@The Judge .... understands the feline mind. (One wonders if she's ever been accused of being "catty?") She knows that Murphy will one day be perfectly tamed by the cats. It would be "The Purr-fect Solution."

@TheDustyZebra .... Reminds us of classic Science Fiction: "The Cat Who Walked Through Walls." Except this time Murphy has its way and the last time was the ninth time which meant the experiment ended in "Catastrophic Failure."

@Ursa major .... Puts a real twist of a tale on Schrodinger’s Cat. Instead of a world where Murphy is turned on its ear, we are left in our own world with stinky singed fur. We really must "Scratch That" experiment.

-------------

My sincere thanks to @Starbeast and @Hugh for the short listing. They put a smile on my face.

Well, that was fun. I just re-read all of the entries, and I must say that this was a solid bunch. I think the standard Science Fiction or Fantasy genre and the interesting topic of Murphy were part of the reasons. That, and there are a lot of good writers and interesting characters around here.

Short list:
@dannymcg ... "Get it Right!"
@David Evil Overlord ... "Publish And Perish And Perish"
@Travis Woodward .... "Just Visiting
@LittleStar .... "Last First Date"
@mosaix .... "If Something Can Go Wrong"

Receiving Votes (and thanks for giving us three votes!)

@Teresa Edgerton .... "Usually Invisible" ---- I thought that this was just brilliant.
@Phyrebrat .... "Murphy Always Wins!" ---- I thought that this was the best use of the theme.
@Starbeast .... "Larry, From Room 13" ---- I thought that this was the best twist on Murphy's Law

It looks like the @ notification function has stopped working again.
Modern technology eh?
