Discussion Thread -- July 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

As ever a stellar field with my favourites below:

Joshua Jones Powerful tale of protecting the vulnerable.
HoopyFrood In this horror tale, is Jack being thoughtful in his psychopathic way, or just adding to the fear by making his victim wait?
Teresa Edgerton A happy ending in store for a sick child is always a good thing.
TitaniumTi Wishing for a playmate rather than a plaything. Poignant.

But my favourite, possibly from all the 75's since I joined this forum:
The Judge A very emotive tale from the viewpoint of a child’s toy. This captures the bleak sense of loss perfectly and I know from my visit to Auschwitz Birkenau just how loud the silent scream is from the things on display there.

Thank you for your kind mention and remarks, and I second your assessment of The Rag Doll's Story. What an exceptional story in 75 words!

That's something, mosaix! As of this moment, 16 votes cast amongst six stories. And I'm more than surprised, and thrilled, that two of those have gone to me. Thanks so much Wruter and TitaniumTi for the votes. Thank you johnnyjet and Joshua Jones for the mentions. Hope to vote soon, CC

HazelRah -- This wry tale casts a satiric eye on collectors.

Parson -- This startling account of a fatal meeting shows us how misunderstanding can lead to tragedy.

Hugh -- The matter-of-fact tone of this story makes its fantastic events seem very real.

Shyrka -- This compelling story effectively leaves the outcome to the reader's imagination.

Teresa Edgerton -- A clever twist perfectly concludes this tale of magic and memory.

TheDustyZebra -- The power of imagination is aptly portrayed in this whimsical creation.

Ursa majpr -- Wordplay leads to a startling ending to this clever tale.

Vote goes to TitaniumTi for "In the Shadow of Immortality" which created a situation which really intrigued me.

Short List

@holland .... "Buried Alive" --- Great ending
@Stuart Suffel .... "Dead Eyes Full of Life" --- Serious tear jerker.
@ErikB .... "When the Cat's Away, the Tribe Will Play" --- Possibly the most original story of the lot.

The Very Serious contenders (or why can't we have 3 votes again list.)
@Joshua Jones .... "Insurrection" --- I loved this story from the first.
@The Judge .... "The Rag Doll's Story" --- Heartrending!
@Teresa Edgerton .... "Not the Prettiest Doll in the Shop" --- A mini-masterpiece

By the thinnest of razor margins my vote went to Joshua Jones and Insurrection. I love it when the good guys sacrifice for someone else.

Thank you for the vote, @Parson. I wonder why self sacrifice is something which resonates with you... Couldn't have anything to do with our shared belief system or anything ;).

TDZ. I laughed at that ending, Dusty, well done!

Great theme, mosaix! And a very good month, everyone (the 300 worder, too!).
