Discussion Thread -- July 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

@Ihe .... reminds us that love is often founded on making your beloved laugh even if you're dealing with the "Plights of the High-Strung Performer."

JLT -- This all-too-believable account of human arrogance reminds one of the ancient Greek saying attributed to Bion of Borysthenes: Though boys throw stones at frogs in sport, yet the frogs do not die in sport but in earnest.

Cory Swanson -- This ironic tale of a seemingly harmless deception shows us how we often become what we pretend to be.

@JLT .... Reminds us that a game is not always just a game. The results are so ugly they remain "Untitled."

@Cory Swanson .... Brings us to a world where people become toys when magic rules the day, therefore "Beware the Trending Meme."

It's been a while! This is my first challenge in ages. I see nothing has changed since my last attempt: same high quality stories all around, mosaix still hogging--er, winning the challenges...

@mosaix .... Brings back a dream from youth. A video game that is really really important, and so "Johnny Wilson (aged 12) Saves The Planet!"

@HazelRah .... Introduces us to a toy, which is "not a toy" and so pines away "In Mint Condition."

@Travis Woodward .... leads us to a magical world where justice is administered by magic, so there will be "Justice for Dolly."

Been feeling a bit out-of-sorts recently, with work, life, etc. eating into my writing mojo, but finally I've wrestled something together.

I understand exactly what you mean about "wrestling something together." My story went through at least 3 complete reiterations and I still can't say it has the punch I wanted.

Yeah, neither this nor my 300 entry have really come together this month. I've not had time to read the other entries either so I've felt all a bit detached from the challenges of late. Ah well, such is life!

Haven't read the 300's but I can tell you that the 75's have some real Cracker Jacks.

@Hugh .... Reminds us that people are more than they seem, and often more dangerous than they seem, such as "Mrs. Stokes of Number 73."

@Shyrka .... Let's us see inside the mind of real toy soldier; the kind of "Old Soldiers" who never die.

Same here. Took me longer to finish than I would like to admit, with several different versions. It had started as a superhero story. Ended up being about a clown...

Maybe a clown is a Super Hero? ---- We'd best be careful. We are skirting dangerously close to breaking the rule about discussing the story before the voting.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: In my defence I didn't reveal anything! Gotta be careful all the same, god-mods lurk everywhere.

@Teresa Edgerton .... Tells us a mystical story steeped in folk lore and truth about a special toy which is "Not the Prettiest Doll in the Shop."

Leave it to an old master of story telling to really get this challenge right. Good job Teresa!
