DISCUSSION -- October 2017 300-Word Writing Challenge (#27)

We do lots of horror around here -- myself very much included. The main thing is to do it without graphic gore, and it can be done. Trust me. :)

I've already outlined a non-horror story for this evocative image. Plus, I love horror and so, cannot wait to read all the horror stories this photo will spawn.

I just see this word:

I came up with something, but its only 82 words. And if i make it longer it loses the effect! I don't think it's even a proper story, but it tells a story.:notworthy:

Heck if it were the 75 word challenge I would have been able to throw this in for that easily with a few edits.

Oh dear I'm quite bad at this.

I think you are mad, Alice
Well I'm guessing no one else saw the fish swimming through the pavement, then.
:sneaky:
I dunno. It looks like a wonky holo generator to me, where the rest of the crew are trying to interact with whomever was caught in the holo matrix but just aren't capable, then are getting bumped off by the whatevers causing the problem.
Or perhaps that's a godling, that child, and they are creating a reality to play in and doing a good job of steam rollering it over the current reality.

LOVE that photo! It's one of those that inspired a story in me within a few moments of seeing it. I just have to cull one 75-worder from the thing, and I'll be done. (Those 75 - 73, really - words will be painful, though.)

Looking forward to reading all the stories!! CC

It looks like a scene from the Phantasm series to me. Keep expecting to see the Tall Man or one of his globes.

Oh, the globes! And the extradimensional reality!! The first movie scared/creeped the hell out of me as a young man; good call.
