Discussion -- November 2017 -- 75 Word Challenge

Thanks for the awesome reviews by Victoria Silverwolf, Parson, and Shyrka. Thanks for the mentions by Talysia, Starbeast, and Suzanne Jackson. And a special thanks for the vote by DelActivisto! A nice surprise.

Interview for The Stage newspaper (Deadwood Edition), @The Judge – This story of a shape-shifting alien is pitched perfectly but also hard to peg down. After canvassing opinion, the punnage contained therein has been deemed too in-tent-sive.

The Steal of the Show, @HazelRah – Another showdown between entertainer and gunslinger but this time, this clown is no fool.

I Spite On Your Face, @Phyrebrat – When this malevolent circus comes to town, everyone must pay the price.

Silver Heels, @Mad Alice – A sad story of rivals and lost loves that brings new meaning to the phrase ‘pining for the moon’.

Bill and Lill: the Night’s Takings, @Ursa major – Don’t mess with the carney folk or you’ll find yourself staring down the barrel of a loaded pun.

Go West, Young Man, @TheDustyZebra – They say the eyes are the mirror of the soul but in this alarming tale, it’s the soul that these mirrors have eyes for...

Lot of people haven't voted yet my list suggests:- Abernovo, Ajid, Ashleyne , AstroZon, Bashfull, Bob Senior, D.A. Xiaolin Spires, Droflet, HazelRah, Joshua Jones, LittleStar, Luiglin, Mad Alice, mosaix, Perpetual Man, Shyrka, SPoots, The Judge, TheDustyZebra and Ursa major. Which is somewhat more than the:- TitaniumTi, DragonAether, Calliopenjo, The Big Peat, Culhwch and Vaz, who voted without the moral pressure (thanks, folks). Still more than twenty-four hours for the last minuters to make their choices, though.

Sorry, trying to finish off a chapter. Not going to complete the NaNoWriMo but trying to get as close as possible. Read first page and half today at lunch. Going to finish the other page and half at tomorrow lunch.

@Shyrka - I have seeds for brains, bro. I forgot to also thank you for being one the excellent reviewers. THANK YOU, Shyka.

@Abernovo - You are immensely welcome for me listing you, bro. Keep up the great work.

I honestly couldn't come up with anything. I got about as far as: The flea... So what happens for next seventy-three words? lol. Anyway, I hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving. Family and friends and all of that good food. Until the next one.

No worries bro. I couldn't think of a few myself and didn't enter the challenge as well. I'm looking forward to see you in a future challenge, Calliopenjo.

After much research, review, & rumination, my Long List:

Right, back after a week offline. So, thanks to Parson, Shyrka and Victoria for their wonderful reviews. I'll try to vote later but for now my thanks to Antimon for the vote. I never expect them. And for honorable or other mentions my thanks to Beasty, Pedro (there's only one, right?), Kerry, Parson and Suzanne. Always means a lot to me.

Victoria -- The Magic Spectacles
Bashfull -- The Second Coming
Droflet -- One Night in Dead End, Nebraska
Parson -- Galveston Island, 1878
*mosaix -- Poor Draw Leads to Boot Hill*
AstroZon -- Fashion Fortune

Starbeast -- Sideshow Sanctuary
Peter V -- Angeni
Bob Senior -- Infestation
Abernovo -- Dead Shots and High Trails
HazelRah -- The Steal of the Show

Okay finally read them all. I don't have time to dissect them. Sorry about that. I'm really pushed at the moment so I'll say well done to everyone who spent the time to submit. Another bumper crop. Oh, and my votes goes to Mosaix. Okay then, I'll give a mention to Ursa because it was not only apt but got me to chuckling.

Teresa's genre/theme pairing inspired a really fun month of stories. Before my lists, I'd like to thank Victoria, Parson and Shyrka for their fine reviews. I don't know how you all do it every month.

Honorable mentions:
Droflet, Glen, Antimon, Starbeast, chrispenycate, Ajid, paranoid marvin, Suzanne Jackson, TJ

Shortlist:
Ashleyne, johnnyjet, Peter V, Teresa

Finalists:
Victoria Silverwolf - I love the sad ones...this a truly poignant story. The denouement is painful, but powerful.
mosaix - A very real feeling story to me, with a terrific payoff. I won't say this right, but I loved the more subtle, or subdued use of the theme/genre.

Vote: Victoria. There's usually one story in each challenge I wish I'd written, and The Magic Spectacles was it for me, this time.

Looks to be a nail-biter of a finish - good luck all, in the voting!

Finally, a big thanks to Starbeast, Parson, and Vaz for the listings! :)
