DISCUSSION THREAD -- December 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

As usual another month of great stories. Well done to everyone.

Honorable mentions: Ashleyene, Victoria, Nixie, JJet, Teresa, Her honor and Dusty.

Favorites: Reiver, Beasty and J Jones. A tough one to pick but by a reindeer's hair I voted for J Jones. Who doesn't like happy endings.

Season's Greetings, everyone.

Here are my favourites.

Chrispy
Cathbad
Peter V
Reiver33
mosaix
Parson
Joshua Jones
TJ
TBP

In the end it came down to three; Mosaix, Reiver33 and PeterV. There would have been a few more if it wasn't for typos or spelling errors.

So, finally, (and yes, I say this many months over, but again, it would've been nice to have had three votes so I wouldn't have had to make the painful choice) the trickster Goodfellow swung it for me, and I went with reiver33.

There appears to be a fault on the poll system for this challenge...
Nobody is managing to vote for my story :D
Yeah dannymcg, me too. As a part of the Trilogy of Terror; (Me, You and Cathbad, I believe the Spirits of Lost Causes put our 3 stories together), all we can do is support our sick twisted but creative minds together. My vote was going to you or Cathbad so I flipped a coin and he got the nod. But I never trusted the rotund guy in the red suit. He takes more credit for other people's efforts than a politician and I think that says it all. Keep up the good work.

Just wanted to pop in and say a huge thanks to @Glen, and @Talysia for the mentions! (Apologies in advance if i've missed anyone!)

And to all those who took the time to leave a review or summary. @Victoria Silverwolf @Parson @SilentRoamer @Peter V

With my vote going to @ASleepyGiraffe

And an even bigger thanks to @Hugh for the vote! Really wasn't expecting that. I'm usually naff at short fiction. I still suspect that's the case but for now, I'm going to have to go and wipe this stupid grin off my face while I think about who gets my vote.

There are too many good stories to choose from, some really creative efforts. Gah, I should change my name to AnIndecisiveGiraffe instead...

I shall have a ponder and post my faves later on today. Oh and slightly late, but merry christmas everyone :D

Thanks @Phyrebrat for the mention and @Droflet for the vote!

My shortlist:
@Cat's Cradle
@Perpetual Man
@nixie
@ASleepyGiraffe
@SPoots
@reiver33
@Stable
@David Evil Overlord
@holland
@juelz4sure
@Phyrebrat
@The Judge
@The Big Peat
@TheDustyZebra

Finalists
@Shyrka - A fantastic representation of the interactions of three generations.
@dannymcg - A perfectly dark subversion of the Santa Claus myth
@Peter V - An amazing depiction of grief

Vote
@Parson - A masterful depiction of conflicting ethical priorities and the life of those who would challenge cultural norms.

Well done, everyone!

Oh wow! A mention and a vote! Thanks to @Cathbad for the Mention and what a delightful surprise to find a vote from @Joshua Jones! I really liked my story and I'm so glad that others are finding something to like in it as well. These words were words of joy for me:

@Parson - A masterful depiction of conflicting ethical priorities and the life of those who would challenge cultural norms.

@dannymcg & @jackwinabox57

Hang in there guys, over twenty people haven't voted yet. BTW, if none of us gets a vote, I'm buying drinks at the Cracked Pot. You guys can drink your fill, and I will over-eat, then we can all blow chunks at each other, get cleaned up and take a nap. Or..something like that.

Lots of good stories this month. I think the theme of "present" was brilliant.

Contenders:

@Perpetual Man .... Paradoxial Present
@ASleepyGiraffe .... As the Clock Ticks
@John K .... Feast not Swords
@SPoots .... Your New Present
@reiver33 .... "Living in It" Gets my vote. Actually it was almost certain from the first time I read it.
@Suzanne Jackson .... "Lessons"
@Teresa Edgerton .... "In Memory of the Princess's Birthday"
@Joshua Jones .... "Sir Albert Ddxragonbane, Dragon-hunted"

I noticed that I had a decided preference to stories that tired to teach a lesson. It's probably just who I am. :)
