The Perp Challenge Discussion Thread.

"Gutted that my edit was, as usual not perfect, bordering on stupid. Damn my illiterate, dyslexic......." Although the stakes where not high and no one really cared, He decided to give up writing. Even if it was just for a few hours.

Whaaaa? I just came here to post mine! With thirteen minutes to spare, I thought...?

Ok, since I can do so regardless, I've posted mine anyway. If it turns out I was too late, let me know and I'll remove it. :)

Never too late for you TDZ.

Well, it would be but it wasn't if you see what I mean...

Yowza, can we close the poll right now? :D

Thanks to my stealth voter, and I do mean stealth. You're insane, whoever you are, but I appreciate it!

ASleepyGiraffe -- The excitement of exploring the unknown, like a submarine diving into uncharted depths, is vividly portrayed in this tale.

Suzanne Jackson -- This story of a marvelous discovery serves as a fine allegory for the fascination of history.

TheDustyZebra -- It requires great skill to imagine a dark, mythic encounter and render it in ballad form.

My vote goes to "Coincidence" by Peter V for its multiple ironies and detached tone.

Well, I thought that was an interesting but difficult challenge. What was difficult for me and judging by the stories for several others as well was to write a story that flowed rather than one that just kinda jerked to a conclusion. I thought 4 people wrote stories that did not suffer from the limitation of word choices. @Teresa Edgerton, @Peter V, @ASleepyGiraffe, and @Suzanne Johnson. ---- I could have voted for any of these stories but voted Peter V by thin hair.

I hoped to type something up last night when the challenge officially closed, but even though I closed the challenge and hour earlier than most of the others, I still underestimated my medication and was struggling to stay awake at 11.00! Sorry. :D

Thanks to to the Mods for helping out.

More importantly thanks to all of you for taking part in this little challenge. It looks as though everyone really enjoyed it, which makes it all worth while.

As you are well aware there are two winners in this challenge, one cannot be decided until the end of the voting but the other should be easy enough to discover with a simple word count. But in the nature of fairness and drama and to satisfy my own twisted needs I will hold off that announcement until the voting closes so the winners can be seen together. :D (Any way, I'm pretty sure you can all work out who had the shortest story...)

As noted above someone who sorted the poll out might have made a little mistake. Not sure who it was but the name was probably Perp ;)

If any Mod can put that right I'd be most grateful. Sorry folks.

Finally... there have been a few mentions of making this regular or at least doing another one.

This is something that I had not originally intended, but if the desire is there I will try again. However this would entail a bit of a talk with the Mods, especially in regard to scheduling as I don't want it conflicting with the 300 word challenge again. Remember there are 3 regular challenges running already.

So the challenge would probably be sporadic - anyone who is friends with me on Facebook will no I have a lot going on at the moment in my professional life (I do have one ;) ) and that is not likely to ease up any time soon. This interferes with everything, unfortunately. Less time on Chrons, less time reading, certainly very little time for writing... grumble, grumble. And, just to keep you incredibly inventive lot on your toes the nature of the challenge would change from time to time, keeping the basic format but with surprise elements added or taken away...

Anyhoo I'll let everyone mull that over, and let you all return your attention to the other challenges and the voting for this one.

Thanks again for taking part, and congratulations on meeting the challenge set, it was a bit different, and you are all winners for just attempting it. Thank you.

I voted for “The Danger of Timeline Manipulation under Screwtape” by @Parson.

Other favorites were by Victoria, Starbeast, Peter V, Titanium Ti, and Suzanne Jackson.

Fun and different challenge. It seemed impossible when you first look at it. But then, somehow, it happens!

Also, glad we got the confusion with the JJ's straightened out, Joshua.
