DISCUSSION -- March 2018 -- 75 Word Story Challenge

This just ain't right ! How much mental anguish does one man have to endure just because he won the challenge?
Now I have to pick a favorite between Parson and Dusty. You might say " you are voting for your favorite story, it's not a popularity contest ".
Being as how Dusty and Parson are two of my favorite people it's kinda like when two of my great grandchildren show me their drawings and ask which one I like best.. The only way out is to put the names in a hat put on the blindfold and draw a name. This I will do and try not to think of myself as one who took the easy way out.
Good luck to you both.

Bob

Congratulations, TDZ!!

A complete dud months for me. Maybe I shouldn'ta used a dream sequence. :/ Hopefully I'll redeem myself next month.

Never fear, Lady Ashleyne, you made my Short List (see page 9) And always remember, even if you don't see any feedback, that doesn't mean everyone didn't like it. They're just too lethargic to remark. What you can't see, is them using a very long broom handle, in order to depress buttons on their keyboards from their bed. And when they are not here, they're probably washing themselves with a sponge on a stick, or ordering food delivery, using voice command cell phones.

"Oh. My pizza is here! HEY PIZZA GUY!!! Just throw the pizza through the window, so it lands in my bed. I'll throw you a wadded-up twenty. Keep the change! WHAT the...? A Tie-Breaker. Where's my broom?"

For those of you that don't read the post attached to the poll....

For the first time, we're using the polling software's automatic closing feature. The poll will be closing at 23:59 on Monday, April the 2nd, GMT, even if I'm safely tucked up in bed by then.

However, the polling software also displays a closing time. This is based on Chrons time, which is set to BST (and so the polling software displays 23:59 AM on April the Third**). Ignore this: the closing time is as stated in the poll thread post and in the previous paragraph of this post.

** - Yes, it uses the twelve-hour clock, just to try to confuse you a bit more....

I hate to be pedantic, but the time on the poll actually depends on your local settings and where you are in the world. Some expats abroad may still be rocking BST, but I'd suggest that the majority of us colonials (and our never-subjugated brethren) have numerous different times displayed. Mine reads 'This poll will close on Apr 3, 2018 at 9:59 AM.', for instance!

(Which is what it should be, by the way!)

If people don't have the good manners to live in the UK or Ireland, or pretend that they do, I can't help that.... ;)

Anyway, the key thing to note is that the time in the first post of the poll thread is the one that matters, not the one displayed by the poll software.

we should use Mars time
If it means I don't have to be up in the middle of the night, I'm all for it!

Well, we could solve this by creating our own calendar. Of course, there would be a string of Fridays and maybe a lot of winter months, or summer months depending, but we could. Then we would have to create our own clock. Hmm, maybe it would be better to stick to the calendar and clock we have. Less complicated that way.

Nobody asked but I think that the winner along with choosing the theme and genre should be in charge of the stopwatch. That way he or she could start and stop the challenge at a time more convenient for themselves, especially as it applies to the poll. All in favor say Yo Bob.!
