After all the kerfuffle over the poll, I never got around to tidying up a couple of things about my story this month (well, last month now...)
I mentioned when I posted it that I didn't have space to pay homage to a particular apocryphal anecdote. For those who haven't heard it, here goes. George Brown was a senior British politician in the 1960s, who often drank to excess. He's at a state function when he sees a ravishing figure in red, so he approaches and asks the vision to take his hand in the waltz that's being played. The vision replies: "No, I will not dance with you. Firstly, because you are drunk. Secondly, because this is not a waltz but the Peruvian National Anthem. And thirdly because I am the Cardinal Archbishop of Lima."
With regard to my story, I'm really grateful to all those kind folks who put me on shortlists and mentions, but I'm annoyed at myself that I didn't write a better story which might have garnered me a vote. In the very first year of the 75s I managed to achieve at least one vote in 11 of the 12 Challenges, the only person to do so if I'm remembering right. Ever since then, I've been trying to get the full 12/12. This year I was at 11/11 at the end of February, so I just wanted one teensy vote in March to get it. And I flopped.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day, as Scarlett says, and 2018-19 is another year!
