Villeneuve's Dune: Part One (2019)

Really looking forward to this!
Me too, but after the last video I posted I cannot stop thinking about Paul's evolution into Messiah as a worm. Of course, it's not going to be showed in the Part II, but it just the Herbert's vision gets to similar point whereas we do, when we create epic scenes. And settings and it's kind of crazy :giggle:

Now even the trailers have trailers!

That's not the real trailer unless it is a really weird mashup....
For the first minute it almost had me believing.

In fact, part I felt rushed while still omitting stuff and I really hope Part II will not. Even if that means a Part III. Material enough until Paul's death.

I'm so looking forward to seeing this.

Loving the costume work.

No, you aren't. But all of Villeneuve's films look plain and have fairly monotone colours.

Same here, but my judgement in part is clouded by the wonderful look of David Lynch's version.

I know it gets derided, and it's far from perfect, but I do think that Lynch's version got pretty much the whole first book into his movie; some Villeneuve couldn't get into his first part, and that was almost half an hour longer. Yes, Lynch's version missed things out, and (for me at least) was unintelligible until I had read the book. But I did think that he captured the essence of what Herbert's story was about.

I felt that Villeneuve's Dune made me appreciate the Lynch version a lot more.

I still very much enjoyed Villeneuve's Dune and i'm looking forward to part two.

I think Lynch's version looks amazing - which Dune ought to do - but is very condensed and hard to follow. I do think it's not awful, and that some of its problems come from the structure and density of the novel.

If only Lynch had been able to break his film up into two parts.
