'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This cat is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the basket 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the catnip! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-CAT!!

I guess we know where Cathbad's loyalties lie...
It's not loyalty, it's Stockholm syndrome.

One day Cathbad thought he'd found a kitten and took it home.
Unaware he'd fallen victim to an evil villain intent on taking over the world.
It started with little things, demanding food, attention seeking, string playing before graduating to waking him at all hours depriving him of sleep, being told what he can and can't do. He is completely under it's sway.
Maybe we should stage an intervention and kidnap him. He needs de-programming .

There is an ugly chair in The Cracked Pot that hopefully will be soon vacated... we can use that for the worst parts of the intervention.

@Plucky Novice .... Virtual Legacy .... Plucky writes us a tale where the world's legacy becomes all consuming.

@Shyrka ..... Lifetimes of Regret .... Shyrka reminds us that some legacies come with enduring consequences.

@Azzagorn .... Broken things .... Azz tells a tale of a legacy ignored much to the detriment of all concerned.

@Glen .... Your lifeform requires updates .... Glen reminds us that if a legacy is not maintained it can become obsolete.

@Artoriarius .... Last Will and Testament .... Art points out that sometimes a legacy needs to be protected for it to last.

Glen bequeaths a jaundiced look at our world from a cosmic perspective, from which we learn that things rarely turn out as expected.

Artoriarius bequeaths an ironic tale set in a classic fantasy setting, which demonstrates how turnabout is fair play.

Well, I'm in. It took me a long time to come up with a suitable idea, but it's at least one I like.

One more story to reach 40. Somebody needs to break out the old Quill and bring us home. Who's it going to be?

review of Parson's "Legacy": A fantastic voyage across Time and Lifetimes.

Ah, but we need to reach 42. Just because we did fail after eight years doesn't give us a license to dwindle and wither away. But with Ashleyne, Phyrebrat, Stable, The Judge, TheDustyZebra and Ursa major yet to contribute I feel that another three submissions are a fairly good bet - particularly considering that at least three leave posting to the last thirty seconds or so, just in case some genius edit might leap to the forebrain… And there are several dozen more potential writers who might come up with a last-minute something, if we do not let them forget that the end is nigh.
