DISCUSSION -- November 2018 -- 85 Word Challenge

@Peter V .... Not so Lucky Number .... Peter weaves a tale of interminable waiting and interminable dread.

Thanks Victoria, I'm not sure I even got my final edit in before you reviewed my story.

Cathbad: Unwilling martyrs, let's hope the sacrifice those last four soldiers made was not in vein. An emotional entry, this could easily be the end of a terrorist action movie, a sort of last little final hurrah for the bomb builder, it seems. It makes me wonder what the terrorist's motives were.

Cat's Cradle: A morbid tale of a prisoner's experiences in being tortured, it could be any number of organizations that could be responsible for the heinous deed. It's a psychological move to using a number of knocks as code to what was meant to happen, especially when putting in a number the recipient has never heard of before. Perhaps, though, at this point, it would be a mercy to let the poor man expire...

Aun Doorback: An entry into the core of spirituality vs. science, an interesting way to bring the view over to the side of faith, the ultimate link between the two rival fields. But science has already made the Big Crunch Theory, in that in a nutshell, the universe could essentially implode, then explode into another Big Bang. That stated, though, if the Big Bang and Big Crunch theories are both correct...how many universes existed before ours?

@Phyrebrat .... John 6:54 .... The Brat tells a tale of woe as he struggles with numbers which threaten to eat him alive, metaphorically, -- we think.

D G Coates: A grisly tale of sport and the supernatural. It's all good for you to win a game of basketball, but try your best to make sure not to lose the forest for the trees. Nothing is worth the sacrifice of your moral humanity.

Calliopenjo: True gamers know how AI can cheat all the time, and even in a simple color numbers game, this is no exception. But I also seem to kind of get a War Games vibe from this, as in, it seems like this could be more than just a game. I'm also getting the background of the narrator being in isolation somehow, if this color numbers game is as important to him as it seems to be here.

dannymcg: A comedic tale of a simple, innocent flight, this was a refreshing entry to see amongst a month's worth that allowed for horror as a genre. The punchline at the setup was perhaps anticipated, but executed very well. Reminds me a good bit of Colin Mochrie's bits in Whose Line Is It Anyway, with the game Weird Newscasters. Got a grin and a bit of a chuckle from me.

mosaix: A very snarky little entry, and I just grinned and shook my head at reading it. Very clever, sir, very clever. Very good play on making it fit under the Fantasy genre too, considering the subject matter you went with. Though, let's hope it doesn't inflate their egos TOO much...we already have gods amongst us with the likes of Pyan and Nixie.

Howdy, I've got nothing, don't know what's the problem. I plan to find a quiet corner tomorrow, sit down with a pencil and paper and see if a story will write itself. If not I will be sure to vote.

Send me that pencil when it's finished please. I'll clone it and make a fortune.

A day and a half (±) left, and at forty-one - pretty certain we'll make the answer, with Bob Senior, Joshua Jones, Justin Swanton, Luiglin, Plucky Novice, Stable, Starbeast, The Judge, TheDustyZebra and Ursa major not yet on board. But we could still go chasing an improbable if not unreachable record with the occasionals , though we'd need about twenty of them…

I'll post something, even if it's a pile of nonsense... no change there then :)

OK @Luiglin I think the jobs done.

"Howdy, I've got nothing (first number - the very first you can't start better) , don't know what's the problem." said Luiglin.

"Oh Howdy, stranger," said the barman, looking suspiciously at Luiglin as he sat down.

"I plan to find a quiet corner tomorrow, sit down with a pencil and paper and see if a story will write itself." replied Luiglin.

"Well we have two or three free, shall I ask Una to come and join you?" said the barman with a sneer.

"If not, I'll be
"Sure to vote. Bob. I'll post something, even if it's a pile of nonsense..."

"No change there then," replied the barman, I give Rosie a call"

Seems you've got the making already

Ok, I'm in. Being a bit over a week out from a major golf fundraiser, I wasn't sure I would get to it, but the muse bit me last night. As an aside, anyone have any ointment for muse bites? It's starting to itch...
