DISCUSSION THREAD, June 2019 75-Word Writing Challenge

@L.L.Lotte .... ADDICTION SOCIETY .... 3L-2T-OE writes us a story that makes me think that it gives us the definition of eternal punishment on earth.

@Shyrka .... Ex Vitro .... Shy writes us a story that simply breaks my heart by its obvious compassion.

@johnnyjet .... The Sound Sleep .... J. Jet writes us a story that reminds us that nothing in this world is unmitigated good.

I thought about this again today.

Unrelated to this challenge, but many months back in another challenge, someone wrote a story about workers being told what to do. A foreman in the tale said to the workers......(something like)

"All right lads, get t'working." And the workers began wiggling their rears, because they thought he said, "Get Twerking."

Oh my gosh-a-rooty. It got me laughing again. Every so often I'd think about that line from the story and I'd start giggling. Today while in my car, with a multitude of other drivers around me, I started cracking up. I giggled for a block while driving. I'm glad I was close to home, so when I parked, I busted out laughing again. :ROFLMAO:

I'd like to thank that genius who wrote that extremely funny line, that still tickles me. :giggle:

@Ursa major .... Unsound Engineering .... Ursa writes us a story in which I was looking for an obvious pun. I was not disappointed.

@M. Robert Gibson .... The Perfectest Herald Of Joy .... M. Rob writes us a story whose title made me think of the Christmas story and indeed there is a wonderful present at the center of the story.

@David Evil Overlord .... The Opera Is Not Over Until The X23B Excavator Sings. ....
DEO writes us a story of human frailty, curiosity, and stupidity. And they may not be all that different.

very happy to give you a gift that keeps on giving @Starbeast. and THANK YOU for brightening up my morning too. when you posted above I thought "that sounds familiar, i'm pretty sure I wrote something like that, I wonder who it was that wrote a story like mine?" I think that may have been in my punning phase

gratitude can be shown in the currency of votes for this challenge... or charcuterie...

and thanks for the sleuthing @M. Robert Gibson. gave me a chuckle too. is it vain for me to laugh at my own joke?

@Mad Alice .... Wrong Side Of The Tracks .... Alice writes us a story which reminds us that individually defying the powers "that be" is a losing proposition.

@TheDustyZebra .... Silence is Golden .... TDZ writes us a story which shows us the power of a really good attack ad and makes me hope she's not working for one of the presidential candidates for 2020.

Tough to narrow down this month. My original Long List was nearly every story. However, below is my much shortened Long List, Short List, and *** Favorite ***:

*** Boy Meets Girl - Victoria Silverwolf ***

BEYOND REALITY – Ashleyne
Words Don't Come Easy – dannymcg
White Noise – Culhwch
Nostalgia Hacked - Ivy Moser
Signal Interruption - Laura R Hepworth
Hollow – LittleStar
Signal to Noise - Robert MacKay
The Last Bard on Earth and the Ballad of the Hive Mind – Tywin
ADDICTION SOCIETY - L.L.Lotte
Ex Vitro – Shyrka

The Perfectest Herald of Joy - M. Robert Gibson
The Opera is Not Over Until the X23B Excavator Sings - David Evil Overlord

Tywin: The power of art is conveyed with great feeling in this portrait of a future which has forgotten its roots.

L.L.Lotte: This satiric account of a pervasive aspect of modern society shows how easy it is to become used to constant annoyances.

Shyrka: The author demonstrates how compassion can persist under the most difficult circumstances.

johnnyjet: This frighteningly plausible description of all-too-believable technology warns the reader to watch out for unexpected effects.

Ursa major: With sly wit, the author presents a rollicking space operetta with a nod to popular culture.

M. Robert Gibson: With only slight exaggeration, this satire of corporation culture brings us to appreciate what we often take for granted.

David Evil Overlord: Proof that humanity will endure all dangers to retain what is theirs appears in this tale of a mechanized tomorrow.

Mad Alice: This lightning-paced vision of a disorienting future makes the reader wonder if people will ever be able to cope with change.

TheDustyZebra: The power of subtlety over bombast comes across in this comic version of a conflict over trivia.

Thanks for the vote @Starbeast

You're very welcome Dannymcg. Shortly after I posted my story, I read all of the entries before mine. But yours...........great, swirling, onion rings, I couldn't get that nightmarish imagery out of my head. It really creep me out. I had to watch some Loony Toons afterward.
