DISCUSSION THREAD -- May 2020 -- 75-Word Writing Challenge

@Perpetual Man ... What Truths Do Dreams Tell? .... Dreams are insane and the insane dream, but is any of it real?

I had a story.
Then I checked what I had typed into the page and found that spellcheck had added it's own tithing of variegated nonsense.
Spellcheck can you just not?
I'm all for A.I. however I feel spellcheck should be entering the challenge with its own submitted entry and stop trying to piggyback on mine.

@BigJ .... Gambling for your Soul: Player Three Enters the Game .... Be sure to know exactly what you're playing for before entering the game.

@StilLearning .... A late night snack .... It's best to observe at least one remove from the action.

I must admit to being a little skeptical as to how inspiring this brief would be for everyone, so I quite impressed with the number of strong entries. The stories that spoke to me are listed below, with the short list in bold. @HoopyFrood wins hands down for me this month.

@Victoria Silverwolf – Gothic majesty, as always.
@dannymcg – I pictured the court and everything when I read this, and for some reason I heard the lines as if voiced by the Monty Python crew.
@scarpelius – Wicked.
@paranoid marvin – Lovely and lyrical.
@sule – Eloquent.
@mosaix – Cool and quirky. For some reason, I heard the DJ’s lines in the voice of Otto, the bus driver from the Simpsons.
@HoopyFrood – Immaculate. Absolutely brilliant. I love the beautiful simplicity of it. Nails the brief, brings a smile. It’s the first time I’ve ever read an entry and said ‘winner’ to myself!
@TheEndIsNigh – Oddly entrancing.
@Luiglin – I laughed out loud at this one.
@Kharn – I lucid dip into dark madness.
@elvet – A vibrant take on a familiar transformation.
@chrispenycate – Curiously mesmerizing.
@Elckerlyc – Entrancing.
@Starbeast – Oooo, gruesome!
@Cat's Cradle – Vividly terrifying.
@Marvin – A novel format!
@Phyrebrat – Dark gothic beauty.
@Peter V – Punchy and slick.
@M. Robert Gibson – Ridiculously hilarious!
@johnnyjet – I love this, I just can’t put into words exactly why.
@Stable – Strangely hypnotic.
@BigJ – Mischievous.
@Maya13 – An assured debut.
@Culhwch – Dark and mysterious.
@Ursa major – Another laugh-out-loud tale. In fact, I couldn’t stop giggling for some time after reading this.
@TheDustyZebra – (talon) sharp and acerbic. A great way to close the round.

@Maya13 .... When the Night Comes .... Sometimes dark makes light and light makes dark.
Welcome to the Chrons!

@Culhwch .... Ninox strenua .... I have a feeling that those eyes are ominous.

@Ursa major .... The Wise Guy .... Just one good excuse might have saved him .... and us.

@TheDustyZebra .... That's What You Get .... At night's end an early bird doesn't stand a chance.

Nobody can!!

Wonder of wonders! A vote!

Happiness is us!

Many thanks @Phyrebrat

You’re welcome. It was pretty much decided for me when I read yours. There were a couple others that Might have given you a run for your money but what you wrote really sums up Weird Fiction for me.

Will do my shortlist in a bit.
