DISCUSSION THREAD -- JUNE 2021 75-WORD WRITING CHALLENGE

@M. Robert Gibson .... Twilight of the Gods .... It is easy to see how this story describes the "twilight of the Gods." No one wants to see what's a rung lower on the ladder.

@Perpetual Man .... Gnab Gib .... How does the world end? Not with a bang but with a whimper.

----

And we have NOT achieved a record low for 75 Word Stories this month.

Good effort guys for getting us up to 35 entries, and all quality stories too. Plenty of time to get closer to 40 still.

I'm in.

Apologies for the not-very-good pun in the title, but I started thinking about cartels and collusion and monopolies and things went downhill from there...

Lots of good stories but given timing I kept it short this month.

Super Short List :

Cats Cradle : Poof : Proves you can’t fake your way to a good marriage once the veil comes off.

Reddishbird: World : The all-seeing eye drives the all eating mouth. Humans feed the world and not the other way around.

The Vote:

G.T. Succession : A sharp and pointed story that pierces through the Challenge’s robust body of work. Es tu Uncle?

Short List
·Zoe Mackay - Shell Game - an interesting concept and honestly I'd love to read a longer version

·bedyak - Translation- this one made me smile. Very clever, creative, and funny.

·Cat's Cradle- *Poof* - another one that made me smile. It still took the prompt seriously while making a joke

Vote:
G.T. - Succession - a story that fit the prompt perfectly. It gave enough information to make it clear and intriguing, but left plenty of space for imagination. Very well done.

@The Judge .... Antitrust (and why it’s a good idea) .... You can't have many tricksters. You need one because you can keep your eye on one, But you can't trust one, so more are better? Oh, I'm so confused!!

@sule .... Beginning the End .... The best tricks turn morning into cheers.

@Lawrence Twiddy .... The Bee Leaf Inn .... The best tricksters are the ones who remain above the trick.

@Ursa major .... Jester Song: “At Twilight!” .... Twilight has made victims out of many of the best of us.

bedyak: Sometimes you have to look a gift horse carefully in the mouth.

Mr Orange: Change is frightening, but can be for the better.

chrispenycate: As time goes by, some things remain the same.

Hugh: Sometimes the con artist gets conned.

gracefully.falling: Know your friends well, but know your enemies better.

DrStrangelove: Rulers live by their own rules.

Moonbat: It's difficult to find the right person for the right job.

G.T.: Trust is often misplaced.

Parson: Sin is its own punishment.

M. Robert Gibson: Be careful who you hire.

Perpetual Man: Some things are beyond anyone's power to control.

The Judge: There is no honor among thieves.

sule: Even one's opponents may have an important purpose.

Lawrence Twiddy: Before you rebel, be certain who is oppressing you.

Ursa major: It's not easy to tell who is against you.

Thanks for the shortlisting BT Jones :D.

I really wanted to do a poem this month, about Dick Dastardly this month, but just couldn't fit it into 75 words.

My shortlistings go to johnnyjet and nixie - really enjoyed both your tales. But Hugh wins my vote with a beautifully written story with a great ending.
