DISCUSSION THREAD -- JUNE 2021 75-WORD WRITING CHALLENGE

Wonderful reviews @Victoria Silverwolf & @Parson . I hope to go back to doing reviews, like I did quite a while back. I've been busy, but I still find time to have fun as well as drop in here. Which is always entertaining.

@BT Jones Thank you for the mention. You made my sleepy morning. I need caffine. I mean caffiene. Well, however it's spelled, I need it and breakfast.

I tried reading some of the tales, but without caffinee. Um, the good stuff. Comprehension is at a minimum. I'll try again later when I can think clearer.

Have a great weekend everyone.  "Huh?" :sneaky::coffee: "Caffeine."

Okay, off I go to read the stories again, pick a short list, and then vote. 12:21 pm.

Hm, This is going to be very subjective. Like when I was gnashing my teeth over a lack of a story it's hard for me to see which of the nasty trick stories --- I don't like nasty tricks on general principals --- I like the best. --- Short list: ....

Poof by @Cat's Cradle for a story where nothing is as it seems and everyone is a trickster.

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER TRUST CATS by @nixie for a parable on the truth about cats.

World? by @reddishbird for a trick that should have been in a Star Wars movie.

Antitrust (and why it’s a good idea) by @The Judge for a new definition of antitrust, and it's such a perfect one.

1:03 pm contemplation

1:08 pm verdict: vote goes to World by @reddishbird.

Geesh, I was sure today was the 27th, and almost missed voting.

I enjoyed reading through the stories again... fine theme, Daysman.
Here are my lists, and vote:

Honorables:
emrosenagel, nixie, reddishbird, sule, Lawrence Twiddy

Shortlist:
Zoe Mackay, johnnyjet, bedyak, G.T., The Judge

I voted for Hugh's really charming story, Comeuppance. It made me smile throughout, and I just loved the name 'Arizona Swing Sisters'. The story ended with a really funny last line that I adored. Great job, Hugh, and fine stories everyone. As always, a huge thanks to Victoria Silverwolf and Parson for their terrific reviews.

Finally, I am absolutely shocked to be doing so well this month. Thanks to everyone who listed or voted for my entry. :)

I thought I wasn't going to be able to vote tonight. A thunderstorm here resulted in us repeatedly losing power, usually when lightning flashed -- Thor getting annoyed at Loki getting so much attention in the Challenge, or Loki pretending to be Thor...??

Anyhow, not only have we retained power long enough for me to vote, I've also managed to get my shortlist done. As ever a lot of stories I didn't understand, or which to me weren't quite trickster-y enough, but still enough stories for me to form a long shortlist, which is:

bedyak -- Translation
Cat's Cradle -- *Poof*
CupofJoe -- Turning the Tables
G.T. -- Succession
Hugh -- Comeuppance
Luiglin -- I am who I am
Mr Orange -- Trojan
nixie -- WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER TRUST CATS
Ursa major -- Jester Song: "At Twilight!"
Zoe McKay -- Shell Game
I had a hard time coming up with a winner, but eventually I plumped for Mr Orange's Trojan horse, with Ursa's pun-filled tale and CoJ's table turning coming close behind.

Many pranks-thanks for the lovely mentions and shortlistings BTJ, johnnyjet, sule, MRG, Lawrence, Parson and CC and a multiplicity of trickster thanks for the wonderful vote nixie, and for the stealth vote, TDZ!

Nicely done @Cat's Cradle!

--------

After much encouragement, @nixie to the foremost, I wrote a story about the way I think Satan works in a life as the "Tempter" and the "Accuser" but this morning in the shower (Maybe I have to be naked to think of that story?) I realized that I didn't put in the story one of the key features that I had in mind; that her girlfriends set her up and there was no one naked for the cameras but her. A truly devilish twist.
