CC, on the sign I could only make out Mr Boggins. How's your eyesight?Don't forget the sign on the left side of the boat. Also, if you click on the pic it can be enlarged - handy for close inspection of the lovely spiderwebs.

My first thought was Mr Baggins - so that's what Bilbo did when he retired to the Grey Havens - went narrowboatingCC, on the sign I could only make out Mr Boggins. How's your eyesight?
Yes, it's Mr Baggins afaik - it's quite a well known canal boat. They have all sorts, lots of micro businesses - there's even a floating bookstore. If I'd lived in England, that's something I might have considered doing! What we need is @chopper - he knows loads about them, and does quite a bit of canal boating, as opposed to the gongoozling* most of us doMy first thought was Mr Baggins - so that's what Bilbo did when he retired to the Grey Havens - went narrowboating
I've been on a few narrowboats, and even worked in a waterways museum, which preserved the history of narrowboats, barges, and lighters. But, I'm not as knowledgeable about the day to day workings as @chopper is. He's spent time travelling about in them. I've spent more time on and around the sea than on canals and rivers. What we need is @chopper - he knows loads about them, and does quite a bit of canal boating, as opposed to the gongoozling* most of us do
A question though. Has anyone seen the spider who created that web? Or is it behind you?
He's away inspiring Robert not to give up.A question though. Has anyone seen the spider who created that web? Or is it behind you?
Sorry, Jo. I'm an awful arachnophobe, myself, but I also find spiders fascinating. You quote me and then include this in the post. Bad, Aber. Bad.
Is that the one they made earlier? It’s not a boat, it’s a Delget Nour dates pack that Blue Peter used to make into a model canal barge.
What are you people; blind?
You live near the Llangollen? It’s gorgeous. We did it the year after Ford and every local claimed to have met him!Weird as it may sound but Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart had a holiday on one of these down on my local canal network. Imagine walking, cycling along or sitting fishing to suddenly see Han Solo/Indiana Jones cruising past on a canal boat.View attachment 82548
I didn't know he was allergic to brined salmon.*prepares herself for a 300 worder entitled Indiana Jones and the Locks of Doom*
They started off there and came down towards the Midlands. The local paper had shots of them. You live near the Llangollen? It’s gorgeous. We did it the year after Ford and every local claimed to have met him!
Is that an official bagsy declaration?*prepares herself for a 300 worder entitled Indiana Jones and the Locks of Doom*
I was preparing myself to read it, not write it! So if it floats your narrowboat, feel free!Is that an official bagsy declaration?
It is tempting to come up with something awful.I was preparing myself to read it, not write it! So if it floats your narrowboat, feel free!
