I liked how yours had that 'Soylent Green' feel to it. Or should I say 'Soylent Blue'?Many thanks to @Christine Wheelwright, @Victoria Silverwolf, @sule en @Daysman for their votes,
and @nixie, @johnnyjet, @THX1138, @Aknot, @Parson, @Hugh, @The Judge and @Cat's Cradle for their mention/shortlisting.
It was a good month.
Thanks I must confess I've never seen that movie (a flaw in my SF education, I'm sure), so it wasn't directly influenced by it. I just had 'shortage of drinking water' in my mind and how to push that to the extreme. But speaking of movies, it was Dune that put me on the track to retrieval of body-water.I liked how yours had that 'Soylent Green' feel to it. Or should I say 'Soylent Blue'?
Dune! That more sense, and I was just watching the recent TV release too! Thanks I must confess I've never seen that movie (a flaw in my SF education, I'm sure), so it wasn't directly influenced by it. The next problem was how to draw this dystopian picture. I had given up of finding a good way to tell the story, until 3 days before the closure of the Challenge, somewhere halfway sleeping and waking up.
That just dawned on me this morning. I'd be happy to read it if we can jump the technical hurdles. (I've secretly thought about reading for audio books, but I'm too lazy/old/busy (fill in the appropriate term) to pursue it strongly.Congratulations, Parson! I look forward to hearing your dulcet tones on the next Chronscast!
Ohhh, the pressure is on now.Looking forward to seeing what topic you come up with for September.
At least we all know it's only water pressure....Ohhh, the pressure is on now.
