DISCUSSION THREAD -- 300 Word Writing Challenge #54 (July 2024)

@AnRoinnUltra - The chronicling of Clórach Bunstachain’s Glomstaphonic recital - I loved it. Fun in an unexpected way. Great text development and perfect fiction. It made me want to learn to play the Glomstaphone.

@AnRoinnUltra .... The chronicling of Clórach Bunstachain’s Glomstaphonic recital .... A story that confirms my bias that judges are mostly reflecting what they think someone else thinks and it's all a farce.

@Phyrebrat .... The Assassins of Herostratus .... This is a story that comes from the heart and has some things to say that we'd all do better if we'd listen to.

@Luiglin .... One foot after another .... This is a story that would even make Sisyphus shudder. There is a pain which is greater than the mere physical.

@Phyrebrat - The Assassins of Herostratus - Complex and good text, with great references. I liked it.

@Luiglin - One foot after another - Very good, I liked the plot and the way it was written. Congratulations.

@Peter V - For the Last Time - Sweet, smart, and contemporary. At certain times in life, we feel confused and in need of direction, and help often comes from those very close to us, despite their own difficulties.

@Peter V .... For the Last Time .... This is a story which takes a very surprising turn while being delightfully loving and gentle.

@Daysman .... the turn of a corner .... A story which leaves me more aware of what I might miss and how others can "see" something I miss which can have a profound impact.

@Daysman - the turn of a corner - Wonderful, spectacular, and surprising. The way each person truly sees the world is very different. This story leaves us with a lesson in eccentricity and respect for others.

@mosaix - Neddie Seagoon Meets Grytpype-Thynne in 2150. - A futuristic vision of the limits of technology and science, very well depicted.

@johnnyjet - The Temple is My Body - Guilt and Fear. The text focuses on past mistakes that always resurface.

@mosaix .... Neddie Seagoon Meets Grytpype-Thynne in 2150 .... THis is a story which made me chuckle as I realized that PT Barnum's insight "There's a sucker born every minute." is shared by aliens.

@johnnyjet .... The Temple is My Body .... This is a story turns my joy into fear as it redefines my expectations of the story.

mosaix: This witty science fiction story makes a strong case for defining one's terms in advance of transaction. Who among us has not fallen prey to the ambiguity of language?

johnnyjet: The author creates a mood of uneasiness from the start of this chilling tale. By reserving the details of its terrors until the climax, the story offers great suspense.

@Hugh .... Psychopomp .... This is a story which feels like the kind of dream that I often have, and then it gets weird, and then it's funny. A well rounded story.

Sounds like you have interesting dreams....

@Hugh - Psychopomp - Brilliant. The psychosis of the modern world portrayed in a brilliant way.

@Parson - A Room with a View - A sad reality like so many others in the world. Selfishness combined with money plants bad seeds, and sometimes the consequences appear.

I'm in. For some reason looking at the inspiration photo again today, the columns reminded me of one of those tiered wedding cakes and I started playing with that idea. The wedding soon got lost, but not the cake, which probably says a lot more about me than I should be revealing.

But I see I'm on the first page of the Challenge thread, which is discombobulating, since I'm usually a good way down the second page. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we have a sudden influx of stories at the last minute. (Looks hard at her fellow mods.)
