Discussion Thread - 300-word Writing Challenge #56 (January 2025)

In my case that seed may fall on rocky ground.

may fall on rocky ground
Rocky ground, eh? So the image could have been given the title, Eye of the Tiger?

Well, you may have something there:

Turn the picture upside down, and you've got some kind of skeletal creature (bird?) with a pincer-like jaw/beak.

But I mentioned before, the picture looks more like things caught in a web than any kind of seeds.

Damn but the formatting on my story isn't what I thought it was. It's a mess. Could have tidied that if I'd checked sooner. Apologies.

Rafellin: The author writes convincingly about a completely nonhuman character. This adds realism to the story's chillingly imagined premise.

THX1138: The deceptively calm tone of this story gives its surprising conclusion extra power. In addition to a compelling plot, it offers a thoughtful look at the question of consciousness.

Astro Pen: The poetic imagery found throughout this story draws the reader into its dream-like mood. The breadth of the vision it provides strikes one with awe.

AnRoinnUltra: With a razor-sharp satiric look at a familiar folk myth, this story demonstrates the power of belief. The ironic ending adds spice to the mixture.

Ian Fortytwo: This charming and colorful fable delights the reader with its gentleness and optimism. The theme of sharing the extraordinary could well apply to us all.

@Rafellin .... Gain in Translation .... This is a story of wonder and communication across what would seem impossible barriers.

@THX1138 .... The Question of, ‘I Am.’ .... This is a story which underlines the fact that emotions can crank up our desire to be understood and perhaps obeyed.

@Astro Pen .... Symbiosis .... This is a story which explores the connection that can be made between separate entities at the crosswords of sound and being.

@AnRoinnUltra .... Honstobock Giollavurra and the failed Invasion of Earth .... This is story which seems so weird and yet so weirdly believable that I have an urge to clamp down on my sphincter.

@Victoria Silverwolf .... Amanda .... This is a story that made me think of John Denver and rethink what one of his songs, one of my favorites, might actually be pointing toward.

@Ian Fortytwo .... The Enchanted Threads of Silas's. .... This is a story which is wonderful fantasy of peace and love and harmony in a place and a way heretofore unimagined.

Fortunately, an idea bubbled to the top of my mind a week ago. The Muse was on vacation.

I just finished my entry and posted. I'm looking forward to read all of the other tales that came before mine.

@Starbeast .... Fiend From Another World .... This is a story that takes a page out of the "You know you are doomed, but you're not sure why you're doomed, and what are you going to do since you are doomed" playbook.
