Book Hauls!

I've started collecting the Dickens novels in Everyman's Library HB's. I've ordered Dombey and Son and Little Dorrit, and I have a voucher coming with which I shall pick up another 4. I always wanted nice hardback editions of Dickens works with all the original illustrations, so very happy this 'project' is finally underway.

I once had a complete set of Dickens books, all with nice green leatherette covers. But when I relocated to up north I couldn't take them with me and my brother bought them off me.

Shame, will you ever get another set do you think?

D&S arrived in the mail this morning, as it happens. Beautiful edition, with the original Chesterton introduction, as well as a more modern intro, two authors prefaces (to 1848 and 1867 editions) and illustrations by Phiz. Lovely binding and paper quaility; overall I'm overjoyed. This is next on the rank after the Wodehouse I'm reading. :)

I picked up a first edition of James Luceno's Millennium Falcon.

After picking up Memory Seed on Saturday I thought I'd take a break from book buying, so when I had to make a couple of purchases for my daughter yesterday so to bring the total up to £20 for the free postage I added:

The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
The Dosadi Experiment - Frank Herbert

and then later on I had another browse through ebay's cheap book selection and came up with:

Adam Robots: Short Stories - Adam Roberts
Singularity Sky - Charles Stross
Cities In Flight - James Blish
Old Man's War - John Scalzi
Speaker for the Dead - Orson Scott Card
Dragon's Egg - Robert L Forward

A friend sent 23 Simaks and a Brunner as gifts.
