Book Hauls!

Ive got a Pyramid book. The Dream Detective. Tales of Perilous Adventures introducing Moris Klaw by Sax Roymer . I have never previously heard of this series and character. :)

It's voluntary and one of the reasons I held off buying the books. On-line buying, that is. I did go to the store and pick them up -- the owner handed them out the door where masked me took them and left.

I don't see any signs of an attempt to clean them. For myself, I've quarantined them since last Thursday. I believe the virus -- according to WebMD -- can last up to 5 days on paper, so I'll probably wait until Thursday or Friday before starting one of them.

My next book to buy should be The Second Sleep by Robert Harris, a historical crime thriller:

It seems irresistible. I haven't read many of his books except Fatherland and The Ghost, and now am reading his brilliant historical fiction An Officer and A Spy. His writing is neat and intense and his historical facts are well researched - something I always appreciate in an author.

The Ghost adapted to The Ghost Writer, a great political thriller starred by Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor; An Officer and A Spy the film also came out last year and won The Grand Jury Prize at Venice film festival, but I wonder if I ever get to watch it because it was directed by Roman Polanski (he did The Ghost Writer too) and sort of banned.
 
Enjoy the cover art! This was one of the books in the 1968 list of sf that I included in one of my home-made magazines just before I his the teen years. I'd forgotten that I'd read it till I saw the list recently. Even then the title seemed juvenile to me, but I liked the novel very much...

The cat is Tess, whom we reckon turns 2 years old this month. She was born to a "barn cat" -- more precisely, a cat living in a shed with an open side, where odds and ends of farm-type equipment were stored.

Ive seen that exact book, It was in one of my Classes way back in grade school.
 
A first edition of Phillip K. Dick. It was expensive, but I couldn't resist.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I could still receive a message telling me I missed out, but hopefully I will have a copy of Vandana Singh's The Woman Who Thought She Was A Planet winging its way to me before long :)

I've been looking for a copy for ages, but it usually ends up stupidly expensive or out of stock. Today while checking I found a copy for around £20 inc. postage, which relatively speaking is a bargain - just got to wait for it to travel very slowly between the US and here.
 
I have recently treated myself to several series of books, amongst are Terry Brooks, Shannara, Magic Kingdom, and Raymond E. Feist, Magician series and his current King of Ashes series. I have Ken Follett, The Pillars of the Earth series. Should keep me going for quite a while.
 
Locations in England and Switzerland seem to account for the great majority, at least, Hitmouse, but I would have to get back to you about specifics for most of them, and I'm saving the book for later.
 
Forbidden Planet just delivered my Rise of Skywalker novel and the Art of Rise of Skywalker, which I'll look forward to reading later this afternoon.
