Hehe cause of the movie right? Even though they have nothing in common storywise. Damon was perfect as Bourne that after i left the cinema i was exploding of the urge to read any Bourne book :)

I have read only up to Supremacy, let me know what you think of Ultimatum in Ludlum thread.

Charles Stross --- The Atrocity Archives & Iron Sunrise
Charlaine Harris --- Grave Sight, Dead as a Doornail, & Definitely Dead
Sherwood Smith --- Wren to the Rescue

Not seen the movie yet CoR - never do! Always read the book first as I can do it that way round. On the very odd occasion I see the movie first, I get very jumpy reading the book - so I have to do it the other way round. Read a load of Ludlum in the past and enjoy - so I'll let you know what the books is like. HAGD:D

No need to worry about the movie cause it has nothing to with the books except Bourne character and treadstone. I have seen all three movies and know that. Have read two books too.

Thats why i saw Ultimatum movie before the book cause it has nothing in common except the title and Bourne.

Another library haul for me; two more books concerning HPL:

Writings in the United Amateur, 1915-1925
Supernatural Horror in Literature (Dover edition -- for the introductory essay)

and a collection by a friend, student, and follower of M. R. James (with his ghost stories on that last....): Nine Ghosts, by R. H. Malden....

Other than for the name, the Bourne character in the movie have nothing much really in common with the character in the books either :p

Yeah but thats cause of the story. They removed everything that made him the old version of Bourne aka the book version.

Matt Damon captures him perfectly. To me the both Bourne are the same personality wise. The difference is in the movies he goes longer without knowing who he really is. Thats why i like the movies cause Damon is Jason Bourne from the book. Ultimatum storywise had more in common with Bourne Identiy book than the movie of the same name did.

I could send you my shipping address y'know, jus' to help out :D

Anyway lots of interesting sounding stuff there...Arthur Machen, Rob E. Howard...mmm...I hope you like the R.K. Narayan book although he is IMO best enjoyed when you have some real-life familiarity with the setting and cultural backdrop of his stories.

Received in the mail: Willis T. Crossman's Vermont: Stories by W. Paul Cook, an amateur colleague of H. P. Lovecraft, and the man most responsible, apparently, for getting Lovecraft back into writing fiction after a hiatus of 9 years....

Just ordered:
Gormenghast Trilogy - Mervyn Peake
His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
Elric of Melniboné - Michael Moorcock
Dr. Futurity - Philip K. Dick
Clans of the Alphane Moon - Philip K. Dick
Game Players of Titan - Philip K. Dick

I had ordered His Dark Materials before, but it never arrived, so I asked for a refund.

There's a bunch of books I ought to post but am just going to post the one which I am most excited about.

Courtesy of Julie & Pat who went to the world con in Japan before heading my way were among others:

Lairs of the Hidden Gods - Japanese stories from the Cthulhu Mythos Vols I - IV :)

GOLLUM ... glad you and the books are home and safe. Yes do come visit again and hopefully things will not all be happening at the same time. And maybe we can put you in a hotel that is not in a lunatic part of town. :p

I'm just gonna say this once. Well, in this thread, anyway. :p That's one thing I seriously miss about living in Canada - the bookstores, both new and used. The sheer abundance of as many books as I can afford.

Here, the selection sucks. Bad.

So just know that I am living vicariously through all of you, complete with the green skin. :)

Finally received the two books I ordered a month ago:

The Magic Mountain - Thomas Mann (I first read this magnificent book back in college, lately I feel like to re read it.)

The Mermaid Chair - Sue Monk Kidd (author of The Secret Life of Bees)

I can't hardly stand it. If I don't buy a book every 10 days or so, I get all twitchy.

So...

I've decided to buy all mass market from Border's since Amazon doesn't discount mass markets. And I can use my Border's coupons.... which usually just about pays the tax, but there you are

I prefer the trade paperback size to carry and read. HB's weigh too much, and I usually fight the print size on MM's. But reading glasses help a bunch with that, so....

Anyway there it is for today. I'll probably be forced to place an Amazon order soon. Haha my wife likes that 'forced' bit. She worries about the weight of the books in our house.

I hear you. You should what it's like in Brazil. Thank God for the online shopping.

I hear you. You should what it's like in Brazil. Thank God for the online shopping.

Unfortunately, online shopping is more or less out for us here in Sri Lanka - unless we are prepared to get the books down one by one :-( When a package exceeds a certain size, it automatically goes to customs over here and we get a letter asking us to come over and collect the package. When you go there, they open up the package in front of you, assess the cost and charge you taxes. The government has gotten so rapacious that they sometimes end up charging more than the books cost in the first place! So online shopping is (mostly) out for us ...
