Sheesh so many of Dick that it makes me drool :D

Will be interesting to see what you think of them. I have planned to get more of his books but dont know which of his lesser known ones are better than others.

Those stories i didnt know even existed except Android.

I only read a few of his works, but I loved Now Wait For Last Year. I'm going to read Our Friends From Frolix 8 next. There's plenty to choose from, as he was quite prolific, and I doubt (from what I hear) you'll find a bad PKD book.

Have you read already Android? Its classic of the genre and prolly his most famous work. It made me a fan.

Will be interesting to see what you think of it.

I saw in the bookstore a collection of his. Mostly i wanna read Minority Report. I loved the idea of the movie and will be interesting to read the story.

Me happy. :)

Just ordered thirteen books, coming to a total of £88 (£93 with 5% off using my UCAS card):

Hobb - Farseer Trilogy, Liveship Traders Trilogy, Tawny Man Trilogy, Soldier Son Trilogy
Pratchett - Making Money

I can't wait until Friday! :D

Haven't read the book, but I saw the movie.:p
Minority Report (the movie) was interesting too. Did you see A Scanner Darkly? That was a cool adaptation. I quite liked it.

Planet of Adventure (Omnibus) - Jack Vance
The Mammoth Book of Future Cops edited by Maxim Jakubowski and M. Christian, bought it mostly caust it contains A Scanner Darkly by PKD
The Man with The Getaway Face - Richard Stark
Die Trying - Lee Child
Sacred - Dennis Lehane
Knights of Dark Renown - David Gemmell

Planet of Adventure
i didnt even know that series existed even the minute before i saw it on the shelf. Bought it cause i saw the blurb started with :Stranded on the distant planet Tschai, young Adam Reith..., that plus Jack Vance's name was enough for ;) My last Jack Vance story was Emphiriyo which i loved from the start to the finish. I thought it would be great to read another mostly SF like JV story again.

Yeh, it's a shame we didn't get to meet up at WorldCon....:( I'm possibly going to WorldCon 2009 in canada, you have any plans of attending that one?
The two friends I was with have booked up but I have to wait and see if I still have a job this time next year if so it is a good possiblity.

Fingers crossed.

Sorry folks I'm a bit off topic here, time to get back to those ever growing book hauls. Actualy I still have over 400 books at home in my TBR pile....

Maybe I can get some hired help from Ravenus and his mates.....

Fingers crossed.

You're obviously not married. I have about 6 in my TBR pile and have to sneak books into the book case so I don't get any stick for spending my time and money buying books. If only you could have them downloaded into your brain, or have them read to you subliminally, in your sleep.

So, the latest one I have snuck into the bookcase is Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan, it seems popular with some of us.

Try to read without thinking of the hype and focus only the book.

I read when i didnt know it was as famous as it is. Worked brilliant for me , i was surprised.

I have a thread about it by the way in case you wanna talk about it when you finish the book.

Another library haul, in this case...

Medusa, by E. H. Visiak; a novel I've been meaning to read for years and never got around to, and have never been able to find (I don't believe it's been in print here in decades)...

Planets and Dimensions, by Clark Ashton Smith -- essays, letters, insights into his work, some humorous pieces, etc.

and Thomas Morton's (brace yourself)

New English Canaan or New Canaan: Containing an Abstract of New England, composed in three Bookes. The first booke setting forth the original of the Natives, their Manners and Customes, together with their tractable Nature and Love towards the English. The second Booke setting forth the naturall Indowments of the Country, and what staple Commodities it yealdeth. The third Booke setting forth, what people are planted there, their prosperity, what remarkable accidents have happened since the first planting of it, together with their Tenents and practice of their Church. Written by Thomas Morton of Cliffords Inne gent, upon tenne yeares knowledge and experiment of the Country. (Printed at Amsterdam, by Jacob Frederick Stam, In the Yeare 1637)

Gollum's probable marital status aside, there's nothing obvious about it. Some of us marry people who are just as addicted to books as we are.

It comes in handy when you realize you need more bookshelves. (Because -- though I've never tried it -- trying to sneak an entire bookcase into the house has got to be very, very difficult.)
