Imperial Assassin

Ooh, getting into Discworld, are we? I thoroughly recommend it! I've only just started getting into it myself. But a very brilliant series :D

*Cough*...um...Sorry, this is an Imperial Assassin thread isn't it? Naff...um...Ah...I'm still yettoreadit,Iwillsoon(assoonasIreadImperialSpy!) Bye! *runs away*

Thanks Mark, but unfortunaly the only email I have is hotmail. :( but I am very greatful of your offer but I have no way to get in contact with sword publishings. Thanks anyway. :)

Vicki,
Assuming you've got internet access, if you log on to Mark's (old) website for Sword Publishing (which is Easy to read fantasy books by Mark Robson), and click on the 'Order a Book' button, you can download an order form which you can then send to Mark snailmail.

Is that any help?

I hear that the Lord Lacedonian is too cool for shoes. . . . .

Damned my book collection!! I had planned on reading all of your books over christmas but who reads at christmas?? I am still drunk now.

Although I am glad I got special books. I am now struggling to find the rest of them. My friends tell me to stop reading so fast, but that is quite hard for me. These original covers are hard to find at the bookshops near me. :(

Lord Lacedian is dead ... long live Lord Lacedian! :D

I take it you had a good Christmas then, Lace? If you can remember any of it, that is.

I had a good Christmas Mark. I had planned on reading your works but never had time to finish of the Gene Wolfe book I am reading. I imagine that the two sets of works are very much polarised. :)

Still proud as hell of that signed book. Means more to me than any book in my collection.

I hope you had a great christmas mate!

My Imperial Assasin and Spy are both signed. I am happy. Just about the only books I own that I won't risk in the bath.

I dont usually put much store into signed books etc. I have known Mark along time though - since way back in his dark and lonely days when he was hawking his books in libraries and schools (He still does this?).

He approached me to ask about the use of the name etc and I said okay, but this was yonks ago. Never give it too much thought until the book was published. He sent me a PM saying that I died on such a such a page. I was naturally delighted.

Anyway we met up one night he and I and a few others and he give me a copy of the book. A top bloke. I would drink with him anytime. Too many stories to tell and not enough time. :(

You were delighted to have died ?

Was really impressed with Imperial Assassin - definitely showed the writing getting stronger, and I had already thought it was good to begin with. :)

Really liked what was done with the charcters, though - wasn't entirely expecting the ending chosen for this one, but very clever - you show a great skill in forcing readers to identify with characters through emotional association. :)

Also really like the details of the training - sounds like some really interesting research went into that.

I'll not look at a knife and fork in quite the same way again. :)

LOL! :D

Thanks for your comments, Brian. It's particularly good to see someone with a critical eye noting that I'm still improving. I still feel I have a long way to go, but I'm the sort of perfectionist who will not give up until I've produced the very best that I can.

I've just had a most enlightening phone call (over an hour's worth!) with my editor this evening, chatting through the last book of the series. The good news is that she feels it's an excellent climax to the series. Her points on the story will keep me busy for a few weeks, but the changes are nearly all cosmetic, so it appears my instinct for storyline is running true.

The research for the Imperial Series was fun, but the stuff I'm doing now for the Dragon Orb books is ... well, fascinating, exciting, engrossing - there are not enough adjectives out there that fit! I'm loving every second of it, and I'm hoping that will really show through in the writing.

Does that mean you owe me big? Just kidding. The reward for me will be the finished product. Which reminds me, I haven't checked out your blog recently, must do so.
