i have a question : if the guild has not been found out will reynik still have to carry the talisment (or whatever the thing is) around with him. And if it is removed could he die ? In the year will he have to go back to the binding stone to renew the energy in his ... talisment thingy ... ?

yes but until then reynik could be in even more danger ! why couldn't Surabar have sent a spy to do it ! they would have known what to do at that time !

I think the reason was that assassins are just as well connected as the spies, and most of the spies are known to them. Not to mention that Surabar might not trust them. Don't forget he hasn't been in power for long, and doesn't have long standing friendships within the spy network. Reynik is the useful, trustworthy, relatively unknown prodigy. He was just in the right place at the right time.

oh yeh never thought of that ! thanks ! Although shalidar should really know reynik. Not as well as he should know femke but i still think he should have reconised him. Reynik must be very lucky.

He did make the connection eventually. I vaguely remember him being discomfited about Reynik in the first place. And Reynik is lucky Mark appears to be kindly disposed to his heros, as a YA author should be

the ventilation connects to the cellars, there isn't a great big door saying "Assassin's headquarters" there. Who's going to carefully search for a well designed hidden passage in cellars the size of an imperial palace? Most of the people there are working and can't just wander off for a treasure hunt. After all, how much time do you spend in cellars?

perfectly true but how old is the palace so in that time has no body gone in the cellers before and it says that Femke knew her way around the palace. Obviously she must have enough time to thouroughly look around, and she must have been down there once or twice. ~ Spoiler

*spoiler*she must have been down there a couple of times at least if she worked for the old emperor she must have been down there and staff should go down there they should have noticed something aswell the staff should have a use for the cellers aswell.hmmmmm puzzler lol*spoiler*

I'm Getting really puzzled ~ Spoiler ~ Even if they went down there if the passage was hidden well they shoudn't notice it ! Although the palace must be old so somewho has gone down there must have noticed that it was partly different. Also has there never been an atempt to close down the guild from the inside? someone else must have tried before the Surabar did.

I think (more like hope) the questions will be answered in the new book. If they are then I will be able to sleep easily ! lol ! I'm a sucker for a good book. Its a brilliant book and I say that about very few i read and i don't read rubbish. The main characters are beliveable and lovable and the baddies are evil and you learn to hate them as much as the main characters do.

Well i don't know about that i completly understand what you saying and i agree but i don't know will she stay a spy forever ? will she pack it all in ? It will all come out in the new and final book i wish it would carry on forever! Although i think Mark would get pretty sick of wrting that many books about the same thing.
