Another Arya moment.....

"My great aunt is a septa at a motherhouse in Oldtown", Lady Smallwood said as the women laced the gown up Arya's back. "I sent my daughter there when the war began. She'll have out grown these by the time she returns, no doubt. Are you fond of dancing my child? My Carellen's a lovely dancer. She sings beautifully aswell. What do you like to do?"

She scuffed a toe amoungst the rushes. "Needlework"

"Very Restful, isn't it?"

"Well" said Arya "not the way I do it."

I can't remember the whole quote by Tyrion at the end of "A Storm Of Swords", when he said to Jaime that thier sister f****d Lancel and Osmund etc... :( SOS. ^^

“Let me tell you a secret, Ned. More than once, I have dreamed of giving up the crown. Take ship for the Free Cities with my horse and my hammer, spend my time warring and whoring, that’s what I was made for. The sellsword king, how the singers would love me. You know what stops me? The thought of Joffrey on the throne, with Cersei standing behind him whispering in his ear. My son. How could I have made a son like that, Ned?”

Robert Baratheon is my favorite character and is a big part of what made A Game of Thrones one of the best books I've ever read.

Welcome Storm's End. Glad you liked Robert. I also liked that blustering bag of suet.

“I looked for you on the Trident,” Ned said to them.
“We were not there,” Ser Gerold answered.
“Woe to the Usurper if we had been,” said Ser Oswell.
“When King’s Landing fell, Ser Jaime slew your king with a golden sword, and I wondered where you were.”
“Far away,” Ser Gerold said, “or Aerys would yet sit the Iron Throne, and our false brother would burn in seven hells.”
“I came down on Storm’s End to lift the siege,” Ned told them, “and the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne dipped their banners, and all their knights bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you would be among them.”
“Our knees do not bend easily,” said Ser Arthur Dayne.
“Ser Willem Darry is fled to Dragonstone, with your queen and Prince Viserys. I thought you might have sailed with him.”
“Ser Willem is a good man and true,” said Ser Oswell.
“But not of the Kingsguard,” Ser Gerold pointed out. “The Kingsguard does not flee.”
“Then or now,” said Ser Arthur. He donned his helm.
“We swore a vow,” explained old Ser Gerold.
Ned’s wraiths moved up beside him, with shadow swords in hand. They were seven against three.

I wouldnt say this would be a quote per-say because my favorite part isnt a quote from any certain character, but GRRM himself I guess. The bold part is probably my favorite statement in the series so far:

In a Tyrion chapter in ASOS:
Tywin: "You...you are no...no son of mine."
Tyrion: "Now that's where you're wrong, Father. Why, I believe I'm you writ small. Do me a kindness now, and die quickly. I have a ship to catch."
For once, his father did what Tyrion asked him. The proof was the sudden stench, as his bowels loosened in the moment of death. Well, he was in the right place for it, Tyrion thought. But the stink that filled the privy gave ample evidence that the oft-repeated jape about his father was just another lie. Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, Sh*t gold.

Where is this quote taken from? I don't remember it. However, if it was from the last book (AFFC?) I skipped over all the new charaters' chapters. Bad, Deanna.

I don't have the books with me at the moment, but a couple of real gems come to mind, both Cersey's (yes I know, the bloody speller won’t give me hints here), both AFFC.
"Most highborn ladies loose their maidenhead to a horse" (or something close, I need those books handy!) and the dialog that takes place between her and the high sparrow before she is imprisoned are both priceless.

It's from the very first book when Ned's leg is injured and he is hallucinating and recalling Lyanna and his promise.

Oh wow, no one came up with my favorite quote by a mile!

"Loras is young," Lady Olenna said crisply, "and very good at knocking men off horses with a stick. That does not make him wise."

This quote is from one of Jaime's chapters when he's questioning the head gaoler Rennifer Longwaters and Longwaters is explaining his name...

"It is an old name, 'tis true. I am not one to boast but there is royal blood in my veins. I am descended from a princess. My father told me the tale when I was a tad of a lad." Longwaters had not been a tad of a lad for many a year, to judge from his spotted head and the white hairs growing on his chin. "She was the fairest treasure of the Maidenvault. Lord Oakenfist the great admiral lost his heart to her, though he was married to another. She gave their son the ******* name of 'Waters' in honour of his father, and he grew to be a great knight, as did his own son, who put the 'Long' before the 'Waters' so men might know that he was not basely born himself. So I have a little dragon in me."

"Yes, I almost mistook you for Aegon the Conqueror," Jaime answered.

Haha sorry its so long but I think you need to have the gaoler's speech there to do the quote credit. Its a classic, it reminded me of Tyrion actually. Bravo Jaime.

Welcome, Ser, My Lady... uh, Ser. That was a droll response by the Kingslayer.

"As angry as he was, his father could not help but laugh. 'You're not my son,' he told Bran when he fetched him down, 'you're a squirrel. So be it. If you must climb, then climb, but try not to let your mother see you.'"

I love this, as we do not often see a humorous or softer side to Ned Stark.

How did that part go when tyrion confronted cersei about lying with Jaime, and she slaped him three times?
I remember how I absolutely LOVED that scene!
But I can't remember where it is from?
help anyone?

its in tyrion's first chapter in ACOK. lets see if i can remember it...

"he thought that... well suspected that..."
"that you were ******* our sweet Jaime?"
she slapped him.
"did you think i was as blind as Father? it makes no difference to me who you choose to lay with. though it hardly seems fair that you would open you're legs for one brother and not the other"
she slapped him.
"be gentle Cersei, i'm jesting. to be honest i'd prefer a nice whore. i never did understand what jaime say in you besides his on reflection"
she slapped him.

or summat :) i don't have the books to hand so it might not be completely verbatim

I vaguely recall a quote that I think is by Jaime or Tyrion where they say something like "Why should I humble myself when the world is so full of people who are willing to do that for you?"

If anyone knows the quote please feel free to adjust it.

"How do you want to die, dwarf?"
"In bed, when I am 80, full of wine, with a maid's mouth around my ****." - Tyrion, AGOT

(possibly not the exact words, but I burst out laughing when I read that. People around me thought I was insane.)

Bronn gets some good one-liners ...
Bronn was waiting outside the council chambers to escort [Tyrion] back to the Tower of the Hand.
“The smiths are in your audience chamber, waiting your pleasure,” he said as they crossed the ward.
“Waiting my pleasure. I like the ring of that, Bronn. You almost sound a proper courtier. Next you’ll be kneeling.”
“F**k you, dwarf.”
And I'm surprised no-one has mentioned theeee best line in the series:
“There are no men like me. There’s only me.”
I adored Jaime from this point on :D
