Newbie post a thread: Least favorite death

twisted brotherly love = you are rarely nice to that particular sibling (total opposites and more often then not hate each other guts) and she aint nice to you either except on occassions such as family gathering, friends from each other, rest of the time you make snide remarks about each other when you arent either a)completely ignoring each other because of total lack of interest in eachother b) fighting, when your hatred for eachother grows too high (usually after and then before an action af the other)

I guess constantly trying to make eachother feel bad is a thing to cherish in its own right.

Sansa is stupid it was cersei who killed lady bassicaly and no the relationship isnt permanently damaged, at least not completely cause they sometimes think of eachother.

Ow and what you call childish antagonism, trust me, those feelings arent entirely childish, often there is something deeper to be found that you carry with you for the rest of your lives, in adult live you just dont see each other as much, wich is why those points of difficulties are easily glossed over, but never entirely gone

i actually meant it broke her spirit, but interesting points.

they still have a sisterly bond that will never go away, and i think deep down they love eachother. families just do, with a few exceptions...

they always say how they miss eachother, and i think when they are reunited they will fall into eachother's arms and sob with happiness and regret over their previous silly squabbles... *hopes*

Hmm, I did think I was talking rubbish, but even though I DETEST my brother, I do look forward to him coming home from university, so I think I do miss him being there, and with the girls, since neither one has any family around them they'd be grateful to see any sibling.

I don't recall ever reading about how Arya or Sansa misses the other. Sansa reflects briefly on how she rarely thinks of Arya. Arya thinks that at this point it would be nice to see family, even Sansa. I don't know if there will be any girlish sob-fest if and when they are reunited. However, I do think that over time and a great deal of thought, they'll each realize that the travesties of their youths mean nothing when compared with family loyalties.

I have a very similar relationship with my twin- when we're together, it's one cat fight after another. When we're apart, we can usually be civil and even kind. This doesn't mean that there's no love there. Most siblings, in some way or another, become competitors throughout their lives, on different levels. But the love is always there. I push my sister's buttons all the time, and she returns it, but if someone else messes with her, they're my worst enemy. Sibling relationships don't make any sense.

I have three sisters and one brother. I'm thinking that when I go grey, the majority of it will be due to them. Just think of the sanity you've been granted!

Hmm... It gets lonely though, and I have no one to blame things on. It's not very believable that the dog ate the last cookie, is it?

hellllooooooooo qc. nice to see you again...

anyways i have a little brother that i absolutly dispise because he is my polar opposite and the most annoying person to ever walk the earth although i do tend to get a little protective for him on rare and i mean RARE occasions only because he is my flesh and blood. and he's the one that blames everything on me not the other way around and i always get in trouble for it to and it really sucks!!! even if they know i didnt do it...it's like i'm his whipping girl or something. but that freakish bond between siblings is there but most faint with me and him...i've made my point and added to others...

I don't think there is a bond between Sansa and Arya. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Arya is a Stark, through and through, but Sansa was Tully and now she's a (Stone??)
Arya may still feel a little atatchment, but I doubt it.
Still, I'm an only child myself (sob) and a noob besides, so feel free to ignore me.

Least favorite death? Brienne, if it's true. I really had a place in my heart for her.

The Red wedding shocked me, in all truth, since some part of my brain had the Starks tagged as the winners. Watching the northmen get slaughtered and Robb butchered threw me completely. It would be like watching Aragon, Gimli and Legolas getting cut down after helm's deep.

It's not really a death as such, maybe the death of a relationship, but when Arya drove Nymeria away with stones. I teared up. I have a dog I love beyond all sense, and trying to imagine hurting her and chasing her away...awful!
For real death's....(behind Ned and Robb and Lady) probably Pod, because he's still a child who has had no chance to live. That was the best illustration of how corrupt the Brotherhood has become.

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you've not read ADWD, then stop reading now.

I think the pic below was linked somewhere else on this forum, but I can't find it.

This photo shows the ASOIAF books stacked with every death marked with a tab. But the one that currently bothers me is the very last one... Kevan Lannister.

I know I've posted elsewhere, but men who display their abilities to command in war and administer in peace really interest me. I don't mean to exclude women, but martial leadership has never been allotted to them in Westeros... with the exceptions of Aegon's wives. The story has featured a number of very able, educated and energetic men... Jon Arryn, Eddard Stark, Jeor Mormont, Tywin Lannister, and now Kevan are all dead. The ones who are still alive are Jon Connington (terminally ill), Stannis Baratheon (reported KIA), Randyll Tarly (a jerk), and Roose Bolton (a villain). Jaime is not there yet, if he'll ever be. Robb never got to show an administrative side. Tyrion will never be respected as a military man. Drogo was a no go at peace. Jon whines way too much... and he's probably dead anyway. Beric Dondarrion is dead. BFS is not an administrator. Mance lost his kingdoms, his people, and his existence. Euron is evil. Victarion is a psycho. Jorah is persona non grata with everyone! Dany is only a young girl and unschooled in the arts of everything... except luck, sex, and ignorance... she's good at those. Cersei is a train wreck and does not even know it. Beric Dondarrion is dead... again. Tommen is a boy and not long for this earth. Doran is sick. Littlefinger and the Spider cannot command men in the field. Mace is an oaf. Loras only likes the war part... but he may also be dead. Maege Mormont (the third Mormont I've mentioned... a very capable family) may be dead. Quentyn is dead and Arianne is a joke. Brynden Tully is on the run. Beric is dead... finally.

Kevan was my last hope for strong and capable ruler... I was sick when I realized he was the POV for the epilogue of ADWD. I quit reading. I had to come to terms with his impending death before I could finish the book. Kevan was a thinker and a realist. If anyone could have stabilized Westeros after Tywin's death and forged an alliance to defeat the coming Targaryen invasions, it was Kevan.

Either Varys has fooled us and is a closet Targ loyalist or he firmly believes the Baratheon Dynasty is rotten and that the Targaryen Dynasty will provide the only stable government.

The only capable men remaining, of any name, are Garlan Tyrell and Mathis Rowan (both loyal to Highgarden), Yohn Royce of the Vale, and Daven Lannister. If you're asking yourself, "Who?", then you know there is no one left to unify the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon's victory is almost assured... especially if Littlefinger backs him.

Man that's allot of tags.

in your last list, you missed the Blackfish. Sure, he is not in a position to unify the kingdoms now, but he is still very much alive and not currently imprisoned. We don't have any evidence of him being a capable administrator, but he might be.

Jaime and Edmund Tully might get there as well. Right now Jaime is only good at making war, and Edmund is an awaful strategist, but give them time.

As for my least favourite deaths, Lady and Grey Wind are definately top of the list. Robb's death was pretty shocking and, in my opinion, undeserved and Eddard's was unexpected as well, but I guess I am just an animal lover, through and through.

I also very much disliked the death of Berric because it lead to the "Life" of lady stoneheart. I am also straight up in denial that Pod is dead.

You listed to me Martin! if pod doesn't make an appearance in book 6... you will receive a very strongly worded letter!

I named Brynden Tully, aka the Blackfish... next to last in the long paragraph. But I agree that my posts sometimes resemble a drive by shooting. Chaotic, all over the place, everyone's a potential victim.

I think you answered the question as to why Kevan died in your second last paragraph. Varys does not want any capable leaders left in Westeros, especially King's Landing, to oppose the return of the Targs.

Personally I do not think Aegon(Perkin Warbeck) has long to last in the next book. Conversely I think Tommen will survive and end up as Lord of Casterly Rock.
