Whos going to GATECON 2001?

I really want to go to gatecon it will be my first convention so i dont know what to expect. I hope not to see riots or something. I would like some more info about gatecon 2001 like the location (adress) and time. Also what is the best way to get tickest ( dont have creditcard)

The convention is being held at the Best Western Richmond. Which is only about 5 minutes away from the Vancouver Airport.

Greetings all!!! I bought my ticket for Gatecon 2001 the day after they went on sale! Got my VIP ticket and it's been a loooooooooong year let me ya!!!
I think that I would naturally be disappointed if RDA and Michael Shanks don't make an appearance but I'd understand...I suppose.
Anyway, got my hotel booked (I live in Alberta) and bought my plane ticket last week so I'm ready!
Here's a thought: maybe some of us from outta town could get together for a drink or something...strangers in a strange land and all that... Think it over folks

I'm sure there'll be a lot of doing that. The hotel and the area around the hotel is teaming with all sorts of pubs, taverns, restraunts, etc. Exactly one of the reasons it was picked.

There's also the 'Unoffical' Wens. Night party run by Sekh and crew: 'The Sekh Party: The Second Coming" [in honor of Planet Hollywood surviving us last year.

Yahoo also hosts a list called "GateGoers". Just th place to find ideas of what to do and link up with folks. They can be found at gategoers@yahoogroups.com . If you need any help getting on, let me know. I'm a list mod there.

Looking forward to seeing ou all in only 63 days. :}

It didn't take long for us to be concidered regulars !!! (At least to the bar staff)

Hey, I'm still deciding if I should go. I live in Coquitlam (next to Burnaby...of course you'd know that Dawar) so no prob getting there if this bus strike ever ends. I really want to go but alas I'm very shy. How will I find any of you guys? Does anyone ever meet up before hand & go together? If so let me know or I'll ckicken out. I've only ever been to one other convention, Star Trek & that was with a group of friends. None of my friends are into Stargate. Still don't know how to decide which day is best to go on. Help?

Things about the Con

Skoon, there's an e-mail list that I help mod called 'GateGoers' who's whole purpose is to help people get together and provide support for folks new to cons and the like. It can be found at gategoers@yahoogroups.com.

If you'd like, send me your e-mail addy via private mail and I'll sign you up.

There are several folks planning get togethers and various trips and such before and after the con. [And yes, I know where Coquitlam is... I investigated a couple of hotels for potential con sites and last year's GateCon was at the Raddison in Burnaby. I've also got a fair amout of friends spread all over that area. ] The biggest of which is 'the Sekh Party' Wends. Night at Planet Hollywood. It was such a blast last year that we're doing it again [another group I'm helping out with].

All this info can be found on the GateGoers list. I hope you join us there.

I know it's a bourbon. Whiskey's, on the whole, aren't my drinks of choice, but theArmy tought me to be flexable... especially if someone else is buying the round. :}

I think you'll like the bars at the Richmond Inn or the pub across the street at the other hotel [the one that came in second]. They know the difference between a 'Half & Half' and a 'Black & Tan' and pull a mean head on a pint of stout.

Heck, there's enough places within a block of the hotel we can try a new one every night.

So... we're [the staff] are all coming in when? The Monday before? Just so we can get a head start?
